Mild cognitive impairment is common in Parkinson's disease, but the underlying pathological mechanism has not been fully understood. To examine the gray matter changes in patients with Parkinson's disease and those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using voxel based Morphometry (VBM). ⋯ These findings suggest that PD is associated with the gray matter atrophy in the neocortical areas, and that cognitive impairment in patients with PD may be associated with gray matter changes in the parieto-occipital association cortex, right orbitofrontal cortex, and middle temporal gyrus.

We evaluated the effects and safety of an alternative technique for rapid sequence intubation in children predicting to have high risk of pulmonary aspiration in this prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled study. ⋯ Sevoflurane based deep sedation with spontaneous respiration maintained technique is not superior to modified rapid sequence induction but can be an alternative technique for anesthesia induction for those predicting to have high risk of aspiration in children.

Anterior communicating artery aneurysm (ACoAA) is a common cerebrovascular disease. This research is to observe the curative effect and safety of clipping anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms by microsurgery through the pterional approach contralateral to supply of dominant blood. ⋯ The ideal side of pterional approach may be cheese via simulation of pterional approach with 3D-DSA. The ACoA complex and aneurysm can be clearly exposed, and the aneurysm may be smoothly clipped safely by the microsurgery through the ideal side pterional approach contralateral to supply of dominant blood in the patients with ACoA aneurysms.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of porous tantalum material in repair tibial defects caused by firearm injuries in a rabbit model. A multifunctional biological impact machine was used to establish a rabbit tibial defect model of firearm injury. Porous tantalum rods were processed into a hollow cylinder. ⋯ By the 16th week, the areas of bone tissue of the firearm injury group was significant higher than that of non-firearm injury group (P<0.05). The comminuted fractures treated with tantalum cylinders exhibited greater bone ingrowth in the firearm injury group. In conditions of firearm injuries, the porous tantalum biomaterial exhibited bone ingrowth that was beneficial to the treatment of bone defects.

This study aims to learn about the current situation of surgical massive blood transfusion of different surgical departments in China's Tertiary hospitals, which could provide the basis for the formulation of guidelines on massive blood transfusion. ⋯ Patients undergoing massive blood transfusion among different surgical departments have a certain difference in use of blood transfusion, mortality rate and the time of death. Our findings suggested that we should set up an independent transfusion program in cardiac surgery and trauma patients of massive blood transfusion.
