Postoperative pain is the main obstacle for safely rapid recovery of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). In this study, we systemically evaluated the analgesic efficacy of intraperitoneal and incisional ropivacaine injected at the end of the LC. A total of 160 patients, scheduled for elective LC, were allocated into four groups. ⋯ Furthermore, intraperitoneal and incisional ropivacaine exerts more powerful analgesic effect than single usage with intraperitoneal or incisional ropivacaine (P<0.05). No patients exhibited signs of local anesthetic toxicity. In conclusion, intraperitoneal and incisional ropivacaine might facilitate PACU transfer and effectively and safely reduce pain intensity after LC.

Sarcopenia is closely associated with poor performance status and high mortality in cancer patients. The present study is to determine the correlation between sarcopenia and prognosis of hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis-associated intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHHCC). ⋯ Preoperative sarcopenia is an independent biomarker of poor prognosis in IHHCC patients following hepatectomy. The identification of sarcopenia may enhance a clinical consideration on decision making for IHHCC patients before surgery.

The interleukin-6 (IL-6) C-572G gene polymorphism has been suggested to be associated with the increased coronary artery disease (CAD) risk, but the study results are still debatable. To explore the association between IL-6 C-572G gene polymorphism and CAD in the Asian population, the current meta-analysis involving 2511 subjects from 7 separate studies was conducted. ⋯ In the Asian population, the IL-6 C-572G gene polymorphism was indicated to be correlated with CAD susceptibility. The carriers of -572G allele might be predisposed to CAD risk.

To investigate the neuro-protective effects of dexmedetomidine (dex) on I/R-induced spinal injury and potential mechanisms. ⋯ We thus demonstrate a possible mechanism by which dexmedetomidine alleviates spinal cord I/R injury through blocking the MCs degranulation.

To study the relationship between the target effective site concentration (Ce) of rocuronium and the degree of recovery from neuromuscular blockade in elderly patients. ⋯ The degree of recovery from neuromuscular blockade could be judged by the target effective site concentration of rocuronium at the time of reversal from neuromuscular blockade in the elderly patients.
