[Effect of ethyl pyruvate on renal high mobility group box-1 protein expression and acute kidney injury in rats with delayed resuscitation after thermal injury].
To investigate the effect of ethyl pyruvate (EP) on high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) expression in renal tissue and acute kidney injury in rats with delayed resuscitation after thermal injury. ⋯ It indicated that HMGB1 appears to be involved in the pathogenesis of post-burn acute kidney injury. Treatment with EP reduces renal HMGB1 expression, and protects against acute kidney injury secondary to delayed resuscitation after major burns.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Patella reshaping versus resurfacing in total knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomized study].
To investigate the differences in the clinical outcome of total knee arthroplasty according to patellar reshaping or resurfacing. ⋯ It has shown that total knee arthroplasty with patella reshaping or resurfacing dramatically relieves pain and improves the function. It seems that postoperative anterior knee pain is related either to the component design or to the details of the surgical technique, rather than to whether or not the patella is resurfaced.

[Clinical analysis of completion pneumonectomy for pulmonary disease].
Completion pneumonectomy (CP) is widely known to be associated with a high morbidity and mortality. However, in certain instances, CP offers the only chance for a cure. Now to explore the indications, prevention and management of complications as well as late outcomes of CP. ⋯ CP can be performed with an acceptable operative mortality and morbidity rate in selected patients. For patients with local recurrence, first and second primary bronchogenic carcinoma as well as benign pulmonary disease, treatment should be surgical when a less invasive procedure is not available and the patients are in good health. In addition, patients undergoing CP have a reasonable prospect for long-term survival.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Impact of intensive insulin therapy on surgical critically ill patients].
To evaluating the effect of different levels of blood glucose control on inflammatory response and prognosis of the patients in surgical intensive care unit (SICU). ⋯ To maintain blood glucose in normal range with intensive insulin therapy has potential positive impact on SICU patients' outcome and can reduce days in ICU and ICU cost. Further correlation research is needed to determine the best levels of blood glucose in ICU patients.
