Case ReportsGastric perforation and subarachnoid hemorrhage secondary to intragastric balloon device.
Obesity is a major health problem worldwide that leads to high morbidity and mortality rates. Medical options for obesity treatment are multiple and invasive therapy may be classified as surgical and non-surgical. ⋯ Prompt surgical management is mandatory upon the diagnosis of gastric perforation secondary to intragastric balloon to avoid further complications and mortality. Here we report an unusual case of patient that suffered both a subarachnoid hemorrhage as well as a gastric perforation related to intragastric balloon in which early diagnosis and prompt surgical treatment lead to a successful outcome.

Review Guideline[Guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of constipation in Mexico. C) Medical and surgical treatment].
There are multiple therapeutic options for the management of constipation, from lifestyle modifications to the use of laxatives and in extreme cases surgery. ⋯ The treatment of constipation should be based on the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and the selection of drugs must be made according to the scientific evidence.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Midazolam versus dexmedetomidine for sedation for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy].
The diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (UGI) is a safe procedure although 50% to 60% morbidity and mortality due to cardiopulmonary complications. ⋯ Midazolam and dexmedetomidine are suitable for endoscopic procedures of upper digestive tract. Dexmedetomidine offers shorter recovery time and better patient's satisfaction.

[Epidemiology and clinical characteristics of ulcerative colitis in north-eastern Mexico].
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) compromises two entities: Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn Disease (CD). The incidence and prevalence vary widely in relation to ethnicity and demographic localization. Historically it has been considered a rare disease in Mexico. ⋯ The frequency of new patients diagnosed with UC has significantly increased in this tertiary-care referral hospital for the last five years.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Postoperative pain in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy with low versus standard-pressure pneumoperitoneum. A randomized clinical trial.].
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the gold standard in the management of symptomatic gallstone disease. Postoperative abdominal and shoulder-tip pain are the main adverse side effects. ⋯ Low-pressure pneumoperitoneum significantly reduces abdominal and shoulder tip pain.
