Sleep bruxism: clinical aspects and characteristics in patients with and without chronic orofacial pain.
Evaluation of long-standing sleep bruxism (SB) patients. ⋯ The data presented in this study showed statistical differences between long-standing bruxism without and with chronic facial pain; the two questionnaires allowed interaction between the chief complaint and the clinical findings; depression levels increased with pain in several regions of the body.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effects on postoperative oral surgery pain by varying NSAID administration times: comparison on effect of preemptive analgesia.
Many studies on the efficacy of preemptive analgesia have been processed in different ways. But the value of preemptive analgesia is still controversial. The goal of this study was to compare analgesic effects of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for oral surgical pain according to 3 different administration times. ⋯ In this small selected group of subjects and limited study design, the analgesic effects of NSAID administered preoperatively were no longer effective for postoperative pain. The results in this population imply that scheduled postoperative analgesics before pain development are adequate for postoperative analgesia without preoperative administration.

Randomized Controlled TrialMidazolam in the reduction of surgical stress: a randomized clinical trial.
The objective of this study was to assess the role of midazolam in reducing surgical stress as measured using subjective and objective variables. ⋯ Midazolam has proved to be very successful in reducing anxiety and stress pre-, peri-, and postoperatively with no significant effect on the vital signs of a healthy patient. Salivary cortisol technique is an easy, noninvasive method to assess anxiety and stress level in patients undergoing surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyAnalgesic efficacy of rofecoxib compared with codeine/acetaminophen using a model of acute dental pain.
To determine analgesic efficacy of a single oral dose of rofecoxib 50 mg compared with acetaminophen/codeine 600/60 mg, we conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo- and active-comparator-controlled, parallel-group study. ⋯ Rofecoxib provided superior analgesic efficacy compared with codeine/acetaminophen with fewer gastrointestinal and nervous system adverse events.
