[Sevoflurane preconditioning produces delayed cardioprotection effect through up-regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase in rats].
To investigate whether inhaled sevoflurane is capable of producing delayed cardioprotection effect in rats and its underlying mechanisms. ⋯ Sevoflurane produces delayed cardioprotection through the up-regulation of iNOS expression.

Comparative Study[Comparison of mannitol and hypertonic saline in treatment of intracranial hypertension of rabbits].
To compare the effects of mannitol and hypertonic saline (HS) in treatment of intracranial hypertension (ICH) of rabbits. ⋯ With the similar osmotic burden, 20% mannitol is more effective in treating ICH than 7.5% HS. With higher osmotic load, the efficacy of HS is enhanced, and 23.4% HS may be used as an alternative to mannitol in treatment of ICH.

[Effects of gestational isoflurane exposure on postnatal memory and learning in rats].
To investigate the effects of gestational isoflurane exposure on postnatal memory and learning and growth-associated protein-43 (GAP-43), neuropeptide Y(NPY) expression in the hippocampus of pups. ⋯ Isoflurane exposure in pregnant rats significantly impairs the spatial memory and learning of their pups at a juvenile age, which may be associated with the down-regulation of GAP-43 and NPY in the hippocampus.

Review[Role of voltage-sodium channels in neuropathic pain].
Voltage-gated sodium channels are critical for the generation and conduction of nerve impulses. Recent studies show that in primary sensory neurons, the expression and dynamic regulation of several sodium channel subtypes play important roles in neuropathic pain. ⋯ Specific blockers of these sodium channels have been demonstrated to be effective in alleviating allodynia and hyperalgesia. Here we reviewed the roles of sodium channels in neuropathic pain, which may be applicable for the development of new drugs with enhanced efficacy for neuropathic pain treatment.
