Case ReportsIs COVID-19 spreading and curing silently: an observation of three family clusters in Bangladesh.
Objectives The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases is increasing in Bangladesh. Many people have suffered from symptoms like COVID-19 during this pandemic, and some people have cured without taking any treatment or taking minor pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. However, they might be spreading their infections among their family members and perhaps in the community. ⋯ Case presentation This observational study was done between May 20 and Jun 2, 2020, in Bangladesh. The members of the inspected families shared COVID-19 like symptoms that were lasted for 3-10 days. Conclusions COVID-19 might be spread and cured silently in Bangladesh, which recommends that awareness is needed throughout the country to prevent the spreading of the disease.

Case ReportsA case report of generalized tetanus in a 42-year-old man with dental infection.
Background In the post-vaccination era, as it is today, generalized tetanus is a rare diagnosis, although mortality and morbidity continue to increase significantly throughout the world. Infection occurs when the Clostridium tetani spores are introduced into wounds, skin lesions and infections. The symptoms often begin with stiffness or spasms in the jaw muscles; they are called trismus or "lockjaw" and/or then spread to the neck and abdominal muscles. ⋯ The patient was admitted to the isolation unit, received treatment that included procaine penicillin, metronidazole, diazepam, human tetanus immunoglobulin (TIG) and anti-tetanus serum (ATS). Treatment was considered according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, and also, the drug dose has no adverse event reaction during the treatment. Conclusion The therapeutic response is related to the identification and appropriate treatment, especially in hospitalized patients with inadequate immunization so that patients recover soon.

ReviewReview of thiamine deficiency disorders: Wernicke encephalopathy and Korsakoff psychosis.
Wernicke encephalopathy (WE) and Korsakoff psychosis (KP), together termed Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (WKS), are distinct yet overlapping neuropsychiatric disorders associated with thiamine deficiency. Thiamine pyrophosphate, the biologically active form of thiamine, is essential for multiple biochemical pathways involved in carbohydrate utilization. ⋯ The identification and individualized treatment of WE based on the etiology is vital to prevent the development of the amnestic state associated with KP in genetically predisposed individuals. Through this review, we bring together the existing data from animal and human models to expound the etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions for WE and KP.

Possible modulation of PPAR-γ cascade against depression caused by neuropathic pain in rats.
Sciatic nerve ligation causes neuropathic pain with chronic constriction injury (CCI). However, there is no published report on the effect of pioglitazone as an antidepressant in the treatment of depression induced by neuropathic pain with CCI in rats. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pioglitazone as an antidepressant by targeting oxidative stress by the peripheral neuropathic pain model using the CCI of the sciatic nerve. ⋯ It may be concluded that the oxidative stress plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain and depression as evidenced by the behavioral studies and the changes in the levels of lipid peroxidase, nitrite, catalase, and glutathione and SOD.
