Non-vascularised fibular graft as an intramedullary strut for infected non-union of the humerus.
PURPOSE. To review outcomes of 7 patients who underwent revision surgery for infected non-union of the humerus using a fibular graft as an intramedullary strut. METHODS. ⋯ Six of the patients returned to their pre-injury activity level, and one endured a brachial plexus injury. CONCLUSION. Fixation using a compression plate and a non-vascularised fibular graft as an intramedullary strut achieved good outcome for infected non-union of the humerus despite prior multiple failed surgeries.

Case ReportsIpsilateral tibial shaft fracture and distal tibial triplane fracture with an intact fibula: a case report.
We present a case of an ipsilateral tibial shaft fracture and a distal tibial triplane fracture with an intact fibula in a 14-year-old boy. Computed tomography revealed the distal tibial triplane fracture with a 2.6-mm displaced Tillaux fragment and a posterior malleolar shear fragment. ⋯ This is a rare injury, for which a high index of suspicion is needed for diagnosis. Missing the intra-articular distal tibial triplane fracture could result in a disabling angular deformity (mostly varus) or limb-length discrepancy secondary to premature partial closure of the distal physis.

ReviewConsent process for elective total hip and knee arthroplasty.
To assess the consent process for elective primary total hip replacement (THR) and total knee replacement (TKR) in our hospital. ⋯ Documentation of complications for THR and TKR patients was often incomplete and variable. The use of structured, procedure-specific consent forms is recommended.

Factors influencing mortality in patients on antiplatelet agents presenting with proximal femoral fractures.
To identify factors predicting one-year mortality in patients on clopidogrel presenting with proximal femoral fractures. ⋯ Surgery should be performed as soon as possible in medically fit patients having proximal femoral fractures who are taking clopidogrel, as delay to surgery is associated with increased one-year mortality.
