Randomized Controlled TrialPreoperative ropivacaine with or without tramadol for femoral nerve block in total knee arthroplasty.
To compare the analgesic effect of preoperative ropivacaine with or without tramadol for femoral nerve block in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ Preoperative femoral nerve block with 20 ml of 0.375% ropivacaine and 100 mg tramadol resulted in the best analgesic effect.

Intra-operative blood salvage in total hip and knee arthroplasty.
To review records of 371 patients who underwent total hip or knee arthroplasty (THA or TKA) with intra-operative blood salvage to determine the allogeneic blood transfusion rate and the predictors for allogeneic blood transfusion. ⋯ Intra-operative blood salvage is not effective in preventing allogeneic blood transfusion in patients with a preoperative haemoglobin level <120 g/l. It should be combined with preoperative optimisation of the haemoglobin level or use of tranexamic acid.

Standard preoperative analgesia with or without fascia iliaca compartment block for femoral neck fractures.
To compare the visual analogue score (VAS) for pain in patients with femoral neck fracture who received standard preoperative analgesia with or without fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB). ⋯ In patients with femoral neck fracture, FICB reduced the need for additional opioid analgesia and avoided the risk of opioid overdose and respiratory depression.

Relationship among cervical, thoracic, and lumbopelvic sagittal alignment in healthy adults.
To evaluate the association between cervical sagittal alignment and thoracic/lumbopelvic sagittal alignment in healthy Japanese adults. ⋯ In healthy Japanese adults, cervical sagittal alignment is associated with thoracic sagittal alignment but not with lumbopelvic alignment.

Comparative StudyScrew fixation versus arthroplasty versus plate fixation for 3-part radial head fractures.
To compare the outcome following headless compression screw fixation versus radial head arthroplasty versus plate fixation for 3-part Mason types III or IV radial head fracture. ⋯ Headless compression screw fixation is a viable option for 3-part radial head fracture. It achieves earlier bone union with fewer complications.
