PURPOSE. To report the outcomes of Polarus nail fixation for displaced proximal humeral fractures. METHODS. ⋯ CONCLUSION. Polarus nail fixation for displaced proximal humeral fractures achieved good fracture union and satisfactory functional outcome, particularly in younger patients and those in active employment, but elderly dependent patients tended to have poor functional results. The rates of minor hardware problems and non-union in 3-part fractures were relatively high.

Informed consent documentation for total hip and knee replacement using generic forms with blank spaces.
To analyse informed consent documentation of 100 patients undergoing elective primary total hip replacement (THR) or total knee replacement (TKR) using generic forms with blank spaces. ⋯ Documentation of all clinically significant complications was insufficient when generic informed consent forms with blank spaces were used. The use of standardised procedure-specific consent forms is recommended.

Comparative StudyCemented versus cementless hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures in the elderly.
To compare cemented versus cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty in terms of operating time, blood loss, pain, functional outcome, morbidity, and mortality. ⋯ Cementless hemiarthroplasty is preferred over cemented hemiarthroplasty because of reduced operating time and intra-operative blood loss. It was associated with increased postoperative thigh pain, but functional outcomes, complications, and mortality were similar between the 2 groups.

Case ReportsRadial head and neck injuries in children with elbow dislocations: a report of three cases.
In children, traumatic elbow dislocations usually occur after the epiphysis has closed and with associated radial head and neck fractures and osteochondral fragments. The fragments are also usually interposed in the joint restricting complete congruent joint motion. We report on 3 children with traumatic elbow fracture-dislocation with associated radial head and neck injuries treated with open reduction and stabilisation. All patients achieved good outcomes and returned to pre-injury level of activities.

Fixation with cancellous screws and fibular strut grafts for neglected femoral neck fractures.
To review the outcomes of fixation with cancellous screws and fibular strut grafts for neglected femoral neck fractures. ⋯ Fixation with cancellous screws and fibular strut grafts for neglected femoral neck fractures is cost-effective and technically less demanding, and associated with good outcomes.
