Biography Historical Article[Samuel Hahnemann: a mystical empiricist. A study of the origin and development of the homeopathic medical system].
Homeopathy is the product of the time of its birth and systematization and its founder's cultural background. From the beginning, homeopathy looked in two directions at the same time. On the one hand, it looked towards scientific enquiry and empirical proof and, on the other, towards religion, metaphysics and mysticism. The origin of this lies in the double orientation of Hahnemann's work: while affirming a rational system of therapeutics based on observation, he also developed a metaphysical theory of illness as well as of the action of medicines.

Biography Historical ArticleHomeopathy: from Hahnemann to the present.
The foundations and philosophical underpinnings of homeopathy are discussed within the framework of a nineteenth century medical controversy. During this era, Hahnemannian doctrine rose in response to the need for conservative healing practices yet faced a decline as key spokesmen of orthodox medicine successfully articulated its shortcomings. These historical events relegated homeopathy to the status of an eclectic medical art. Its greatest discoveries and contributions, such as the medicinals founded by Hahnemann and the attitude of patient education have become incorporated into modern day medical practice.

Biography Historical Article[The evolution of the Hippocratic oath].
The oath was the result of the new course of the Greek philosophy, following the thought of Anaxagoras of Clazomenes, who joined physis and techne in a rational sequence of observations. Thus, the oath lay the foundation for medical schools (relationship teacher-pupils) and for medicine (relationship physician-patient); the rules (including prohibitions) of the oath have been the rules of medicine for centuries, present in other rules, like the Constitutiones melphitanae of Frederich 2nd or the prayer of Maimonides (which is a forged manuscript, made in the XVIII century, important for the contents because it is a more modern version of an oath). Finally in recent years the World Health Organization and National Medical Councils with public declarations or deontological codes have revised the principles of medical ethics twenty-five centuries after the Hippocratic oath.
