Review[Naturally caused imbalance of elements in the population of the Yamal Region (a review)].
The study has indicated that microelementosis in the natives and newcomers of Yamal is caused by the geochemical features of the region and supplemented by inadequate zinc intake. The region's waters differ in their hygienic standards and high levels of iron and the air is characterized by the latter's deficiency. Fe is ingested equally with water and foodstuffs while Cu and Zn are mainly with foods. The trace element status of the newcomers is considerably close to that in the natives of the North and associated with the chemical composition of the region's waters.

The frequency of multiple congenital malformations, central nervous system and genital malformations were found to be associated to the magnitude and duration of ecological load. Xenobiotics identified in the ambient air of a large industrial center pose an increased risk for antenatal malformations. The largest number of statistically significant correlation coefficients was established between the study variables at a delay lag of 2 years. It is assumed that high ambient air pollution adversely affects the mechanisms of inheritance in future parents long before birth of a child.

Comparative Study[Ambient air benzo(a)pyrene and its role in the formation of cancer morbidity in Tashkent].
The ambient air benz(a)pyrene concentration was found to be greatly variable in Tashkent in 1985 to 2005. A high correlation was established between the ambient air content of benz(a)pyrene and the rate of primary malignancy morbidity. The findings show it necessary to monitor the level of benz(a)pyrene in the ambient air of Tashkent.

Comparative Study[The health status of 15-18-year-old schoolchildren in Moscow].
Analysis of the health status of about 3 thousand 15-year-old schoolchildren from the Central Administrative District of Moscow, made during annual prophylactic medical examinations during 1994 to 2003, revealed a clear tendency for diminished functional capacities in schoolchildren. There was a less than 30% reduction in the number of apparently healthy adolescents with a rise in the proportion of persons with dysfunctions of the locomotor apparatus (LMA) (24.7%), organ of vision (OV) (21.9%), and gastrointestinal tract (19.2%). ⋯ A functional relationship was assumed to be between OV and LMA, which was due to the visual motor functional system. In-depth studies are required to elucidate reasons for the revealed tendencies.
