Comparative Study[Children's health status under ambient air pollution].
The present study was undertaken to comparatively assess the health status of organized preschool children living under varying man-made pollution. Pilot and control districts differing in the level of man-made ambient air pollution were identified. The morbidity and physical development of children in these areas were studied. Fewer healthy children and more ailing children, more children with dysfunctions of organs and systems, and more sick children, as well as more physically retarded children were detected in the higher man-made loaded district of an industrial town.

Comparative Study[Analysis of the health status of rural inhabitants in the Sverdlovsk Region, determination of leading factors].
There is an increase in primary and overall mortality in the Sverdlovsk regional areas exposed to eastern-Urals radiation traces. The children mostly commonly have diseases of the endocrine and nervous systems, sensory and respiratory organs. ⋯ In the study period (1990-2000), morbidity considerably increased in the Kamensk Region marked by the highest radioactive contamination. There was an association of the morbidity rates with environmental (Bogdanovichsky District) and socioeconomic (Kamensky and Bogdanovichsky Districts) factors and with level of radioactive contamination (Kamensky and Bogdanovichsky Districts).

Numerous epidemiological surveys show the ambiguity of evaluation of stable organic chlorine compounds as a risk factor for breast cancer (BC). This is likely to be, to a certain degree, associated with the specific features of performance of epidemiological surveys. The selection of cases of BC from different areas has provided groups with different levels of exposure that as judged from the content of the above substances in the biological environments. ⋯ The analytical epidemiological study using a case-control approach has revealed the significance of biological (BC in relatives, childlessness), occupational (women's work at CVZH) and environmental (pollution, the more frequent ingestion of local pork and fish than in the control group) risk factors of BC. In the 1950-1960s, the largest Russian enterprises of chlorine chemistry worked most actively not only in Chapayevsk, but also in towns with plants of chlorine industry, such as Dzerzhinsk, Novomoskovsk, Sayansk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, and others. Ecological and epidemiological studies should be organized in these towns in order to define the value of SOP as a risk factor of BC for general populational groups.

Comparative Study[Analysis of a school timetable, bearing in mind the health status of children].
A type of medical examination of a school timetable is proposed, by bearing in mind the actual educational price established at a specific educational establishment. The ratio of the physiological and emotional stress in pupils during schooling to their learning progress and physical fitness is the price of schooling. The study has revealed no direct relationship between the level of schooling load and the price of education. There are difficulties in learning within the first days of a week and a need for additional efforts to maintain the pupils' working capacity at the end of a week.
