The Relationship between Anxiety and Coping Strategies in Family Caregivers of Patients with Trauma.
Traumatic events are of high incidence and affect not only the patient but also their family members, causing psychological problems such as stress and anxiety for caregivers of these patients. Therefore, the application of appropriate coping strategies by them seems necessary in order to promote mental health. ⋯ The majority of family caregivers had anxiety. Tibial diaphyseal fractures are the commonest long bone fractures in adults, most commonly managed by intramedullary interlocking nailing. However, several meta-analysis show that locking plate osteosynthesis is equally effective in managing tibial diaphyseal fractures and are associated with less number of complications. ⋯ There was no difference between the two modalities in terms of fracture union. Complications were lesser but more serious in case of plating. Patient satisfaction was more with plating.

Arterial blood sampling, used to assess patients in acute conditions, may result in complications such as thrombosis and embolism. However, it can be replaced by venous blood sampling, but there is a dearth of information on this. ⋯ Central VBG analysis cannot replace ABG analysis in measuring exact PO2 status, necessitating arterial sampling in some matters, but with respect to the accuracy of pulse oximetry measurements in determining the exact PO2 status, for the rest of the indices a central VBG rather than an ABG can be utilised for determining patient's acid-base status. Particularly in patients who are hospitalised for a long time and have a central venous catheter in place like patients who have undergone CABG, thus reducing the risk and need for invasive arterial sampling.

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a serious condition in neonatal care. It complicates the management necessitating the restrictive use of medications. ⋯ AKI continues to be of clinical significance in neonatal intensive care. Further studies are needed to evaluate newer associations (like male gender and low APGAR scores).

Assessment of learning environment is essential to assess the acceptability of the curriculum among students. Several tools are available to assess undergraduate medical students' perception of learning environment. Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire is the most commonly used tool. Here, we have used both the widely used DREEM questionnaire and a relatively new questionnaire Johns Hopkins Learning Environment Scale (JHLES). ⋯ Both DREEM and JHLES scores revealed comparable results from two schools with positive correlation between DREEM and JHLES tools, however some areas with low scores require modification especially the domain assessing Students' Academic Self-Perception (SASP) and Students' Social Self Perceptions (SSSP).
