Regulatory T (Treg) cells are key modulators in the immune system. Recent studies have shown that atopic dermatitis (AD) patients have higher numbers of Treg cells; however, little is known about the specific phenotype and function of Treg cells in AD. ⋯ We found that CD47 is highly expressed in the Treg cells of AD mice, particularly in the spleen. Based on our results, we propose that CD47(high) Treg cells are likely induced Treg cells and that upregulated CD47 in the Treg cells of AD patients may play a role in the increased population of Treg cells in AD.

Randomized Controlled Trial Observational StudyHypoalbuminemia, Low Base Excess Values, and Tachypnea Predict 28-Day Mortality in Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock Patients in the Emergency Department.
The objective of this study was to develop a new nomogram that can predict 28-day mortality in severe sepsis and/or septic shock patients using a combination of several biomarkers that are inexpensive and readily available in most emergency departments, with and without scoring systems. ⋯ Our new nomogram is valuable in predicting the 28-day mortality of patients with severe sepsis and/or septic shock in the emergency department. Moreover, our readily available nomogram is superior to conventional scoring systems in predicting mortality.

Immunogenicity and Safety of Trivalent Split Influenza Vaccine in Healthy Korean Adults with Low Pre-Existing Antibody Levels: An Open Phase I Trial.
A phase I clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of newly developed egg-cultivated trivalent inactivated split influenza vaccine (TIV) in Korea. ⋯ The immunogenicity and safety of TIV established in this phase I trial are sufficient to plan a larger scale clinical trial.

Decreased Progesterone Receptor B/A Ratio in Endometrial Cells by Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha and Peritoneal Fluid from Patients with Endometriosis.
Progesterone resistance is thought to be a major factor that contributes to progression of endometriosis. However, it is not clear what causes progesterone resistance in endometriosis. This study aimed to assess whether cytokines or peritoneal fluid can affect progesterone receptor (PR) expression in endometrial cells and to verify whether PR expression is reduced in endometriosis. ⋯ Progesterone resistance in endometriosis may be caused by proinflammatory conditions in the pelvic peritoneal microenvironment.

Case ReportsRobot-Assisted Laparoscopic Adenomyomectomy for Patients Who Want to Preserve Fertility.
An adenomyomectomy is a conservative-surgical option for preserving fertility. Conventional laparoscopic adenomyomectomies present difficulties in adenomyoma removal and suturing of the remaining myometrium. Robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery could overcome the limitations of conventional laparoscopic surgery. ⋯ The dysmenorrhea and pelvic pain of the patients nearly disappeared after surgery. No residual adenomyosis was observed on the follow-up pelvic MRI. A robot-assisted laparoscopic adenomyomectomy was feasible, and could be a minimally invasive surgical option for fertility-sparing treatment in patients with adenomyosis.
