The Protein-Protein Interaction Network of Hereditary Parkinsonism Genes Is a Hierarchical Scale-Free Network.
Hereditary parkinsonism genes consist of causative genes of familial Parkinson's disease (PD) with a locus symbol prefix (PARK genes) and hereditary atypical parkinsonian disorders that present atypical features and limited responsiveness to levodopa (non-PARK genes). Although studies have shown that hereditary parkinsonism genes are related to idiopathic PD at the phenotypic, gene expression, and genomic levels, no study has systematically investigated connectivity among the proteins encoded by these genes at the protein-protein interaction (PPI) level. ⋯ Both PARK and non-PARK genes show high connectivity at the PPI and biological functional levels.

Multicenter StudyPrenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Heart Diseases and Associations with Serum Biomarkers of Aneuploidy: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study.
We assessed prenatal detection rates of congenital heart disease (CHD) and associations between maternal serum biomarkers and non-chromosomal CHD in singleton pregnancies. ⋯ Ultrasonography performed during the second trimester by obstetricians detected over 85% of critical CHDs. Low maternal serum PAPP-A or high inhibin-A was associated with non-chromosomal CHDs. These results may contribute to an improvement in prenatal diagnosis of CHDs.

Multicenter StudyFactors Associated with the Underuse of Sedatives and Neuromuscular Blocking Agents for Pediatric Emergency Endotracheal Intubation in Korea.
Rapid sequence intubation (RSI) using sedatives and neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) is recommended for pediatric emergency endotracheal intubation (ETI), but is not frequently performed in Korea. This study aimed to verify factors associated with the underuse of RSI medications. ⋯ RSI accounted for 32.9% of pediatric emergency ETI in Korea. The underuse of RSI medications is associated with younger patient age, underlying medical conditions, and pediatricians as intubators.

Impact of Enforcement of the Act to Improve Training Conditions and the Status of Medical Residents in Emergency Abdominal Surgery.
In 2018, the Act to Improve Training Conditions and the Status of Medical Residents (AITR) was fully implemented in South Korea. This study aimed to investigate the effects of AITR implementation on the clinical outcomes of patients who underwent emergency abdominal surgery. ⋯ The time from ER arrival to emergency surgery did not increase significantly after AITR implementation, and there was no difference in the patients' clinical outcomes.
