Case ReportsLocalization of Oncogenic Osteomalacia by Systemic Venous Sampling of Fibroblast Growth Factor 23.
Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is characterized by hypophosphatemia caused by a phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor. While surgical resection of the tumor leads to a cure, identification of the responsible tumor is challenging. Recently, several studies showed that systemic sampling of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) is helpful for localization of tumors. The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of this method in Korean patients. ⋯ Our data strengthened the value of venous sampling of FGF23 in predicting the location of tumors and suggested that it can be more effective in the presence of the relevant lesion in subsequent imaging analyses.

A Novel Association between Lysyl Oxidase Gene Polymorphism and Intracranial Aneurysm in Koreans.
Lysyl oxidase (LOX) controls the cross-linking and maturation of elastin and collagen fibers. In this study, we investigated the association between LOX gene polymorphisms and intracranial aneurysm (IA) formation in a homogeneous Korean population. ⋯ This preliminary study indicated that LOX gene polymorphisms, such as rs2303656, rs3900446, and rs763497, may play crucial roles in IA formation in the Korean population. Our novel findings need to be validated in a large-scale independent population.

Physical Activity, Sedentary Habits, Sleep, and Obesity are Associated with Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis, and Atopic Dermatitis in Korean Adolescents.
Since pathophysiologic evidence has been raised to suggest that obesity could facilitate an allergic reaction, obesity has been known as an independent risk factor for allergic disease such as asthma. However, the relationship between sedentary behavior and lifestyle which could lead to obesity, and those allergic diseases remains unclear. ⋯ High physical activity, and short sleep time were associated with asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis.

Case ReportsCongenital Orbital Fibrosis: Molecular Genetic Analysis by Whole-Exome and Mitochondrial Genome Sequencing.
A 3-year-old girl presented with congenital orbital fibrosis. We performed molecular genetic analysis by whole exome and mitochondrial genome sequencing. No pathologic mutation was identified in the present case. To our best knowledge, this study presents the first report on the findings of mutational analysis of a patient with congenital orbital fibrosis.
