ReviewStenting versus bypass surgery for the treatment of left main coronary artery disease.
Based on data comparing coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) with medical therapy, the current guidelines recommend CABG as the treatment of choice for patients with left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can be selectively performed in patients who are candidates for revascularization but who are ineligible for CABG. ⋯ Data from several extensive registries and a large clinical trial may have prompted many interventional cardiologists to choose PCI with stenting as an alternative treatment option for such patients. In addition, these data may inform future guidelines and support the need for well-designed, adequately powered, prospective, randomized trials comparing the two revascularization strategies.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term treatment outcome and major complication rates of abdominal sacrocolpopexy (ASC). ⋯ ASC provides durable pelvic support, however, it may be ineffective for alleviating pelvic floor dysfunction except for urinary urgency and voiding dysfunction, and it contains major complication risk that cannot be overlooked.

Outbreaks of imipenem resistant Acinetobacter baumannii producing OXA-23 beta-lactamase in a tertiary care hospital in Korea.
Since November 2006, imipenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolates have increased in Kyung Hee University Hospital in Seoul, Korea. The purpose of this study was to determine the genetic basis and molecular epidemiology of outbreak isolates. ⋯ It is concluded that all of the 49 IRAB isolates acquired resistance to imipenem by producing OXA-23 carbapenemase and they might have originated from a common source.

Case ReportsPrimary effusion lymphoma: an untrivial differential diagnosis for ascites.
A primary effusion lymphoma is a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma where serous cavities are involved. That-cause peritoneal, pleural and pericardial effusions without any lymphadenopathy. ⋯ The prognosis is usually poor despite treatment. Herein, the case of an immunocompetent patient with ascites and pleural effusion diagnosed as primary effusion lymphoma is presented and discuss the case in the light of the current literature.

Cheiro-oral syndrome: a clinical analysis and review of literature.
After a century, cheiro-oral syndrome (COS) was harangued and emphasized for its localizing value and benign course in recent two decades. However, an expanding body of case series challenged when COS may arise from an involvement of ascending sensory pathways between cortex and pons and terminate into poor outcome occasionally. ⋯ COS arises from varied sites between medulla and cortex, and is usually caused by small stroke lesion. Neurological deterioration occurs in 12% of patients and relates to large vessel occlusion, medullary involvement or cortical stroke. Since the location and deterioration of COS cannot be predicted by clinical symptoms alone, COS should be considered an emergent condition for aggressive investigation until fatal cause is substantially excluded.
