Comparative StudyComparative Survival Outcome of Robot-Assisted Staging Surgery Using Three Robotic Arms versus Open Surgery for Endometrial Cancer.
There is lack of data on direct comparison of survival outcomes between open surgery and robot-assisted staging surgery (RSS) using three robotic arms for endometrial cancer. The purpose of this study was to compare the overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) between open surgery and RSS using three robotic arms for endometrial cancer. ⋯ RSS using three robotic arms and laparotomy for endometrial carcinoma had comparable survival outcomes.

Prognostic Value of Alpha-Fetoprotein in Patients Who Achieve a Complete Response to Transarterial Chemoembolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a prognostic marker for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We investigated the prognostic value of AFP levels in patients who achieved complete response (CR) to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for HCC. ⋯ High AFP levels and AFP non-responders were independently associated with poor outcomes after TACE. AFP holds clinical implications for detailed risk stratification upon achieving a CR after TACE.

Comparative StudyComparison of Allergenic Properties among Commercially Available House Dust Mite Allergen Extracts in Korea.
Precise allergy diagnosis and effective allergen specific immunotherapy are largely dependent on the quality of allergen extract. A new extract of Dermatophagoides farinae was commercially developed by Prolagen. The allergenic properties of the new extract were compared with those of other commercial products. ⋯ Endotoxin levels varied 8.9-fold (1020 to 8985 EU/mL). The newly developed house dust mite extract showed equal or better allergenic properties than available commercial extracts. This new product may be useful for better diagnostics and allergen-specific immunotherapeutics.

Association of Mortality with Antiplatelet Treatment in Patients with Stent Placement or Angioplasty: A Population-Based Nested Case-Control Study.
Antiplatelet drugs are essential in patients with cardiovascular disease who undergo stent placement. We hypothesized that risks of mortality would differ according to adherence to antiplatelet agents, number of antiplatelet agents, and antiplatelet regimens in patients undergoing stent placement or angioplasty. ⋯ Our study demonstrated that adherence to antiplatelet therapy and antiplatelet monotherapy, compared with DAPT, in patients with stent placement or angioplasty may have a beneficial effect on mortality in cerebro-cardiovascular disease.

Case ReportsWingspan Stenting for Symptomatic Severe In-Stent Stenosis of a Closed-Cell Stent after Stent-Assisted Coiling of a Ruptured Intracranial Aneurysm.
We report the 3-year follow-up result of Wingspan intracranial stenting for symptomatic severe in-stent stenosis after stent-assisted coiling (SAC) for a ruptured left distal internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm. A middle-aged male patient visited our hospital for in-stent stenosis of a stent that was placed to treat a ruptured ICA aneurysm. Routine follow-up cerebral angiography, 1 year after SAC, showed in-stent stenosis around the distal markers of the inserted stent at the left M1 proximal segment. ⋯ Follow-up digital subtraction angiography performed 1 year after the Wingspan stenting showed good patency of the ICA and middle cerebral artery flow without evidence of restenosis. At 3-year follow-up, magnetic resonance angiography showed sufficient middle cerebral artery flow although the stenting segment could not be visualized clearly. Wingspan stenting might be a feasible option in patients with iatrogenic intracranial stenosis resulting from in-stent stenosis who experience the progression of intracranial stenosis with manifestation of neurological symptoms despite dual anti-platelet therapy.
