Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is common with specific semiological characteristics. When CIPN appears, there are many difficulties in guaranteeing sustained treatment, especially with optimal protocol. ⋯ We have also produced some epidemiological data. Nonetheless, we have not voluntarily introduced treatment because it will be the topic of further work.

Squamous cell carcinomas are the most frequent subgroup among head and neck malignant tumors (HNSCC). Tobacco (±alcohol) and HPV infection, the two main risk factors, define two entities with distinct anatomo-clinical and genetic features. ⋯ HPV-negative, tobacco-related HNSCC are genetically more complex, are characterized by almost mandatory inactivating mutations/deletions of tumor suppressor genes (TP53, CDKN2A) and the possible, but less frequent, activating mutations or amplifications of some oncogenes that encode for cell cycle proteins or receptors with tyrosine kinase activity. This review describes the genetic features of HNSCC and discusses how these abnormalities could be incorporated into a therapeutic approach.

[Palliative care for children in onco-hematology: Role of a specific home-care team].
Our home-care unit (HCU) is specialized for pediatric cancer patients and has a strong palliative care activity. We believe that the introduction of home-care services can influence the place of palliative care and of death as well as the length of hospitalization. We aimed at describing characteristics and care course of patients treated in our HCU, and tried to identify some factors contributing to home care at the end of life. ⋯ Our HCU has a strong palliative care activity and a high rate of children dying at home. Good collaborations between our pediatric onco-hematology team and our HCU as well as between our HCU and caregivers optimize palliative care.
