Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized controlled double-masked trial of albuterol add-on therapy in patients with multiple sclerosis.
Interleukin 12 (IL-12), a cytokine that promotes generation of helper T cells subtype 1, is increased in multiple sclerosis. Albuterol sulfate, a β2-adrenergic agonist, reduces IL-12 expression, so we tested the effect of albuterol as an add-on treatment to glatiramer acetate therapy. ⋯ Treatment with glatiramer acetate plus albuterol is well tolerated and improves clinical outcomes in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Case ReportsIsolated distal myopathy of the upper limbs associated with mitochondrial DNA depletion and polymerase gamma mutations.
To describe an unusual clinical phenotype in an adult harboring 2 compound heterozygous polymerase γ (POLG) mutations. ⋯ Our case broadens the phenotypic spectrum of disorders associated with POLG mutations and highlights the complex relationship between genotype and phenotype in POLG-related disease.

Multicenter StudyManagement of thrombolysis-associated symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage.
Symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) is the most devastating complication of thrombolytic therapy for acute stroke. It is not clear whether patients with sICH continue to bleed after diagnosis, nor has the most appropriate treatment been determined. ⋯ In many patients with sICH after thrombolysis, coagulopathy goes untreated. Our finding of continued bleeding after diagnosis in 40.0% of patients suggests a powerful opportunity for intervention. A multicenter registry to analyze management of thrombolysis-associated intracerebral hemorrhage and outcomes is warranted.

Imaging cortical lesions in multiple sclerosis with ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging.
To determine the sensitivity of T2*-weighted gradient-echo (T2*GRE) and inversion recovery turbo-field-echo (TFE) sequences for cortical multiple sclerosis lesions at 7 T. ⋯ Three-dimensional T2*GRE and white matter-attenuated TFE sequences at a 7-T field strength detect most cortical lesions in postmortem multiple sclerosis tissue. This study indicates the potential of T2*GRE and white matter-attenuated TFE sequences in ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging for cortical lesion detection in patients with multiple sclerosis.
