The study included 400 women, undergone delivery by cesarean section (300 retrospectively and 100 prospectively) for a 2-year period. The influence of the spinal anaesthesia was investigated on the hemodynamics of the mother and the clinical state of the newborn (according to Apgar). The spinal anaesthesia occupies substantial place among the methods, used for anesthetization in cesarean section. The authors are of the opinion that the spinal anesthesia is quick, easy for technical performance and effective method for anaesthesia in cesarean section, accompanied by few complications and side effects.

[The diagnosis and treatment of lung barotrauma in newborn infants at risk].
Lung barotrauma (LBT) are some of the most frequent complications in the course of mechanical ventilation (MV) in risk newborn infants. The interstitial emphysema among them is the most frequent cause for development of chronic hung diseases, but the pneumothorax induces shock state, connected with high mortality. A retrospective analysis of the histories of the disease was carried out on 18 risk newborn infants with clinical and roentgenological data for pneumothorax. ⋯ There were considerable deviations. The results indicate considerably better prognosis of the disease, when the drainage is put immediately after establishment of the clinical diagnosis. Mortality is high, when the drainage of pneumothorax is put after the first hour.

[Reconstruction of the uterine wall in cesarean section by a single-stage double-layer suture--our experience].
The authors described their own experience in usage of the figure-of-eight suture in the uterine wall after caesarean section. The method was used in 42 patients for the period of 1984-1987. ⋯ Polyamide antimicrobic threads were used for reconstruction. Very good results were found during the early puerperium, which supported the efficiency of the applied method.
