Multicenter Study Observational Study
Clinical characteristics and treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19 in Hebei.
In December, 2019, a novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan, China. We aimed to clarify the epidemiology, laboratory examinations, imaging findings, and treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19 in Hebei province, China. ⋯ COVID-19 patients who had underlying diseases and longer confirmation times were more likely to progress to critically severe COVID-19. These patients also presented with a higher risk of respiratory depression, circulatory collapse, extrapulmonary complications, and infection.

As a Chinese medicine injections, Kanglaite injection (KLT) is a complementary or alternative therapy for first-line platinum-based chemotherapy. However, the effect that certain factors, including the dose of KLT, chemotherapy cycles, evaluation criteria, or supportive treatment, have on the efficacy of the objective response rate (ORR), median survival time (MST), and adverse reactions is still unknown. ⋯ KLT plus first-line platinum-based chemotherapy, except when chemotherapy regimens were TP, increased efficacy and quality of life in patients with advanced NSCLC. We are unsure whether this combination offers a low risk of adverse reactions. Additional high-quality RCTs are warranted to assess the effects of the combined therapy further.

Tracheomalacia may be caused by long-standing compression of retrosternal goitre because of destruction of support of tracheal cartilages. Life-threatening airway collapses may occur after surgical removal of goitre. However, available literature on management methods of tracheomalacia is sparse. Our study highlights prolonged endotracheal intubation as a feasible treatment method. ⋯ Tracheomalacia is a rare but serious complication of retrosternal goitre surgery. Based on our experience, prolonged endotracheal intubation is a feasible treatment for tracheomalacia after retrosternal goitre surgery.

The objective of this study was to understand the distribution and drug resistance of healthcare-associated infection (HAI) pathogens in an intensive care unit (ICU) of a general tertiary hospital in Inner Mongolia, and to classify carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CR-AB) in ICU patients and environmental samples. Additionally, this study aimed to provide scientific evidence for the use of clinical antibiotics and effective prevention and control measures for CR-AB outbreak. ⋯ Gram-negative bacteria were the primary pathogens of HAI in the ICU, and their drug resistance was serious. There is homology in the PFGE typing of CR-AB. Therefore, hospitals should strengthen the surveillance of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. Additionally, further cleaning and disinfection measures are needed to improve environmental hygiene and prevent outbreaks of HAI.

The novel coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has outbreak in the world. Little is known about the clinical characteristics of patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection in the high-altitude region of China. We reported the clinical characteristics of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Gansu province, China. ⋯ In the Gansu province cohort of 86 patients of COVID-19, most patients were with mild or moderate type, and most asymptomatic cases showed CT imaging findings of SARS-CoV-2 related pneumonia.
