To evaluate the efficacy and safety of defibrillation on children according to AHA 2005 recommendations ⋯ The new guidelines recommendation that one shock immediately followed by CPR is reasonable. Adults AED combined with pediatric electrodes is feasible to the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric VF model. But the user should not rely too much on AED's "automatic" function, but should accumulate and integrate his experience with AED technology.

To find out etiology and clinical course of thrombocytosis in Indian pediatric population. ⋯ Results of this study suggest that essential thrombocytosis is extremely rare in children. Infections and IDA (alone or in association with infections) are common causes of RT. IL-6 and CRP levels are increased in patients with RT, to a higher level in patients with infections than in patients with IDA. Most patients with RT have uneventful recovery of platelet counts to normal range with treatment for underlying condition.

To ascertain the effectiveness of WHO analgesic ladder in pain management in children with leukemia. ⋯ WHO analgesic ladder is effective in managing pain in children with leukemia. Majority of cases of cancer pain in children could be managed by the treating physician using non-opioids, weak opioids and adjuvants as per the WHO guidelines. Children with bone pain and neuropathic pain may require referral to specialist services and use of strong opioids like morphine. The study emphasizes the need for establishing specialist pain management services in all centres where children with cancer are treated.

To evaluate the effects of Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy (T&A) on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) secondary to Upper Airway Obstruction (UAO) in children with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). ⋯ T&A appears to be a safe, effective option to treat selected patients with OSA due to UAO in SCD children.
