COVID-19 Contact Tracing Apps: Predicted Uptake in the Netherlands Based on a Discrete Choice Experiment.
Smartphone-based contact tracing apps can contribute to reducing COVID-19 transmission rates and thereby support countries emerging from lockdowns as restrictions are gradually eased. ⋯ A secure and privacy-respecting contact tracing app with the most realistic characteristics can obtain an adoption rate as high as 64% in the Netherlands. This exceeds the target uptake of 60% that has been formulated by the Dutch government. The main challenge will be to increase the uptake among older adults, who are least inclined to install and use a COVID-19 contact tracing app.

Observational StudyFeasibility and Acceptability of Wearable Sleep Electroencephalogram Device Use in Adolescents: Observational Study.
Adolescence is an important life stage for the development of healthy behaviors, which have a long-lasting impact on health across the lifespan. Sleep undergoes significant changes during adolescence and is linked to physical and psychiatric health; however, sleep is rarely assessed in routine health care settings. Wearable sleep electroencephalogram (EEG) devices may represent user-friendly methods for assessing sleep among adolescents, but no studies to date have examined the feasibility and acceptability of sleep EEG wearables in this age group. ⋯ Wearable sleep EEG appears to represent a feasible, acceptable method for sleep assessment among adolescents and may have utility for assessing and treating sleep disturbances at a population level. Future studies with adolescents should evaluate strategies for further improving usability of such devices, assess relationships between sleep EEG-derived metrics and health outcomes, and investigate methods for incorporating data from these devices into emerging digital interventions and applications.

Multicenter Study Controlled Clinical TrialDevelopment and Usability of a Novel Interactive Tablet App (PediAppRREST) to Support the Management of Pediatric Cardiac Arrest: Pilot High-Fidelity Simulation-Based Study.
Pediatric cardiac arrest (PCA), although rare, is associated with high mortality. Deviations from international management guidelines are frequent and associated with poorer outcomes. Different strategies/devices have been developed to improve the management of cardiac arrest, including cognitive aids. However, there is very limited experience on the usefulness of interactive cognitive aids in the format of an app in PCA. No app has so far been tested for its usability and effectiveness in guiding the management of PCA. ⋯ The PediAppRREST app received a good usability evaluation and did not appear to increase team leaders' workload. Based on the feedback collected from the participants and the preliminary results of the evaluation of its effects on the management of the simulated scenario, the app has been further refined. The effectiveness of the new version of the app in reducing deviations from guidelines recommendations in the management of PCA and its impact on time to critical actions will be evaluated in an upcoming multicenter simulation-based randomized controlled trial.

Implementing Facilitated Access to a Text Messaging, Smoking Cessation Intervention Among Swedish Patients Having Elective Surgery: Qualitative Study of Patients' and Health Care Professionals' Perspectives.
There is strong evidence that short-term smoking cessation before surgery can reduce postoperative morbidity. There are, however, several structural problems in health care systems concerning how to implement smoking cessation interventions in routine practice for preoperative patients. ⋯ Smoking cessation specialists adopted an active role in implementing the intervention by adapting their approach and fitting the intervention into existing routines. Patients showed strong motivation to change and openness to incorporate the intervention into their behavior change journey; however, the timing of the intervention and messages were important in optimizing the support. A text messaging, smoking cessation intervention can be a valuable and feasible way to reach smoking patients having elective surgery.

Clinical TrialCommunication Technology Preferences of Hospitalized and Institutionalized Frail Older Adults During COVID-19 Confinement: Cross-Sectional Survey Study.
Technological communication methods such as telephone calls and video calls can help prevent social isolation and loneliness in frail older adults during confinement. ⋯ Older people confined to health care settings were able to complete telephone calls more independently than video calls, and they tended to use telephone calls more often than video calls. The satisfaction degrees were similar with both modalities and even greater with video calls among long-term care and nursing home residents when they were given assistance to establish communication.
