The anaesthetic management is described of a patient with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome who had to undergo caesarean section due to failed induction of labour. Spinal anaesthesia with hyperbaric nupercaine was given. The main problem encountered during anaesthetic management was repeated attacks of supraventricular tachycardia which were primarily due to anxiety or occurred during pharmacological intervention with oxytocics.

Over a one-year period in the Children's Outpatient Department of Port Moresby General Hospital 23 cases of child sexual abuse were diagnosed. 20 (87%) were female. The perpetrator was known to be a male relative or acquaintance in 14 (61%) cases. The patients presented either with a history or overt signs of sexual abuse. With increasing awareness of child sexual abuse as a significant problem in paediatrics there will be an increase in the frequency of diagnosis of this condition in Papua New Guinea.

Case Reports
A case of pseudoanaphylactic reaction to intramuscular procaine penicillin G (Hoigne's syndrome).
A personal record of a pseudoanaphylactic reaction to procaine penicillin G is presented, together with a brief discussion of the topic. Since procaine penicillin is widely used in Papua New Guinea the reaction may be more common than is generally realized. The reaction is not a true anaphylaxis and is probably caused by the procaine component after inadvertent intravenous injection of the drug.
