Comparative Study
Predictions of postoperative visual outcome in subjects with cataract: a preoperative and postoperative study.
To assess the ability of critical flicker frequency (CFF) and optimal reading speed (ORS) to predict the potential vision in patients with cataract with and without ocular comorbidity. ⋯ The PAM and the LI showed a limited clinical capability in predicting postoperative visual acuity, particularly with dense opacities. The CFF shows the most promise as a PVT, particularly with dense cataract. Further evaluation is required for both CFF and ORS.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Double masked randomised controlled trial to assess the effectiveness of paracetamol in reducing pain in panretinal photocoagulation.
To assess the effectiveness of pre-emptive analgesia with paracetamol in reducing pain associated with panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) in a prospective, double masked, randomised controlled trial. ⋯ Pre-emptive analgesia with paracetamol did not significantly reduce pain associated with PRP. This study has described for the first time the type of pain associated with PRP, which is perceived mainly as a discomfort. The main attributes of the pain that patients described, were sharp, flashing, tiring, intense, piercing, intermittent, and brief.

To determine the prevalence of the met and unmet need for spectacles and their associated factors in the population of Tehran. ⋯ This survey determined the met and unmet need for spectacles in a Tehran population. It also identified high risk groups with uncorrected refractive errors to guide intervention programmes for the society. While the study showed the unmet need for spectacles and its determinants, more extensive studies towards the causes of unmet need are recommended.
