The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the data currently available regarding the repurposing of different drugs for COVID-19 treatment. Participants with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19 were included in this study. The interventions that have been considered were repurposed drugs and comparators that included standard of care treatment or placebo. ⋯ Due to the paucity in evidence, it is difficult to establish the efficacy of these drugs in the treatment of COVID-19 as currently there is no significant clinical effectiveness of the repurposed drugs. Further large clinical trials are required to achieve more reliable findings. A risk-benefit analysis is required on an individual basis to weigh out the potential improvement in clinical outcome and viral load reduction compared to the risks of the adverse events.

The aim of this registry study was to investigate the potential of a new food-grade formulation of the association of Boswellia serrata and Centella asiatica extracts (Boswellia/Centella Phytosome, [BCP]) in combination with standard management (SM) to produce a faster re-expansion of the intervertebral disks in symptomatic subjects with "flattened" disks in the lower spine, due to wrong posture and compression after repeated trauma. ⋯ The relative effects on spinal elongation, disk space, signs/symptoms of BCP appeared to double the efficacy of SM, improving symptoms associated to a very good tolerability of BCP.

Clinical use of cangrelor: a real world multicenter experience from South Italy Insights from the M.O.Ca. registry.
Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with acetylsalicylic acid and oral P2Y
12 inhibitor (P2Y12 -I) represents the standard of care for patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) or with chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Cangrelor, the first intravenous P2Y12 -I, is deemed to overcome the drawbacks of the oral administration; nevertheless, real world data on this new drug are scanty. We sought to investigate routine clinical use of cangrelor in four interventional centers of Italy. ⋯ Cangrelor was predominantly used in ACS with modalities substantially in accord with the label indications. Poor clinical outcomes are due to the prevalent utilization in highly challenging clinical settings, nevertheless the rate of bleeding and stent thrombosis are in line with the randomized trials if analyzed in a subpopulation of comparable risk profile. -
The ongoing global Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has been posing challenges to proper patients' management. Lungs are the first, and often the most affected organ by SARS-CoV-2; viral infection involves and damages both epithelial and vascular compartments, sometimes leading to severe and even fatal acute respiratory distress syndrome. Histopathological findings, mainly from post-mortem examination of COVID-19 deceased patients, have been increasingly published in the last few months, helping to elucidate the sequence of events resulting in organ injury and the complex multifactorial pathogenesis of this novel disease. A multidisciplinary approach to autopsy, including light microscopy examination along with the detection of viral proteins and/or RNA in tissue samples through ancillary techniques, provided crucial information on the mechanisms underlying the often-heterogeneous clinical picture of COVID-19.
