[The pH value of granulating wound and skin graft in burn patients].
The relationship between pH of granulation of burn wound and take rate of skin graft was presented. The bacteria in the granulation tissue were also quantified. ⋯ The wound pH is 8.0 when the number of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is 10(8)/gm of granulation tissue. Because the measurement of wound pH is rapid, simple and noninvasive, it might be useful in predicting the take rate of skin graft.

[Clinical study of the pathogeneses of multiple organ failure after burns].
51 burned patients with TBSA over 30% were studied prospectively. MOF developed in 17 of them. Postburn MOF occurred mainly in those with TBSA over 70%. ⋯ There were also significant changes in plasma TXA2 and PGI2 levels postburn. The marked increase in TXA2/PGI2 ratio indicated imbalance between TXA2 and PGI2, which was correlated well with burn size and closely related to the development of postburn MOF. The excessive production of TXA2 might trigger or accelerate the formation of microaggregates and thromboxane, subsequently leading to visceral damages and failure.

[Changes in basic fibroblast growth factor in lung injury induced by combined injury].
In this study, we have investigated the changes of basic fibroblast growth factor after lung injury. Acute lung injury was produced by combination injury (burn and blast injury). Basic fibroblast growth factor was isolated from lung tissue. ⋯ On 7th days after injury, the basic fibroblast growth factor was not detected. The findings suggest that basic fibroblast growth factor takes an important role in lung injury and repair. The mechanism of elevation of basic fibroblast growth factor in the lung after injury was discussed.

[The factors influencing carboxyhemoglobin kinetics in acid induced lung injury].
Anesthetized dogs were ventilated with 1% carbon monoxide (CO) in air for 10 minutes to produce CO poisoning. They were then ventilated with room air (n = 5) or pure oxygen (n = 5) for 3 hours. They served as controls. ⋯ No significant correlation was found between T1/2 and Qs/Qt in the injured dogs ventilated with air or oxygen. A negative linear relationship was found between T1/2 of COHb elimination and the pre-CO-poisoning PaO2 (r = -0.98, P less than 0.05) in the injured dogs treated with oxygen. The data suggest that hypoxemia may represent the underlying mechanism of altered COHb kinetics in acute inhalation lung injury.

[Clinical uses of a reverse narrow pedicled fascio-vascular flap from the medial aspect of the leg].
The authors presented a new technique of using a narrow distally pedicled fascio-vascular flap from the medial aspect of the lower leg to cover soft tissue defects in the lower third of the leg, ankle and foot regions. 7 cases of traumatic scar have been treated with reversed narrow pedicled fascio-vascular flap since January 1987. The maximum covered area by the flap was 16cm x 15cm and the rotational angle ranged from 90 to 180 degrees. ⋯ The advantages of this flap are as follows: the quality of the flap is good; there is a narrow fascio-vascular pedicle; this flap was easily rotated as an island flap; a high survival rate; simplicity of technique; no main artery is sacrificed, and the function of the leg is not affected. The authors believe this is an ideal method for resurfacing soft tissue defects in the lower third of the leg, ankle and foot regions with exposure of deeper structures.
