Hemoglobin level was the most common factor used in evaluation the iron status and anemia prevalence in population. We used HemoCue method and cyanmethemoglobin method for estimating hemoglobin by capillary blood samples from 280 3-5 years-old-children and vein blood samples from 71 12-13 years-old children, a serial of control blood samples were measured also. The results showed that the two methods had good corelationships in estimating hemoglobin. ⋯ The results indicated that in research studies cyanmethemoglobin method should be the best selection. HemoCue method has been found to be easy in operation, less in training and portable size, it can be used in the filed work that the cyanmethemoglobin method was not available. But the results should be adjusted.

Air pollution is a major blot on our environmental health scorecard. Finding from many epidemiological studies showed that air pollution contributed to many health impact, being harmful to respiratory system, cardiovascular system and immune system, and was associated with declined lung function, increased hospitalization and cardio-respiratory mortality. These health impacts occurred even at exposure levels below those stipulated in current air-quality guidelines. In this paper, some findings from epidemiological studies were reviewed, and some considerations for the future study on this subject were emphasized.

To investigate health impact of brick-tea type fluorosis in adults, the total daily fluorine intake, environment fluorine level were determined, the average urinary fluorine content assay and bone X-ray examination were conducted, the clinical manifestations were observed in the brick-tea type bone fluorosis epidemiological study conducted in Naqu County, Tibet at September, 2001. One hundred and eleven adults aged at 30-78 year-old were enrolled. It was found that the fluorine level of drinking water in Naqu County was 0.10 +/- 0.03 mg/L, but the brick-tea water processed foods-zamba and buttered tea had fluorine content of 4.52 +/- 0.74 mg/kg and 3.21 +/- 0.65 mg/kg respectively. ⋯ Degenerative arthropathy and ossification of the interosteal membrane, calcification of the tendon were the characteristics that indicated by both the positive signs and reogenological examination. The prevalence of osteosclerosis type (bone matrix increased) was 74%. It is suggested that there were even more severe health impact compared with those in the water type and coal combustion type fluorosis.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of lactase on lactose malabsorption and its intolerance symptoms, as well as the available way to improve lactose absorption. Healthy adults with a history of lactose intolerance were screened by 25 g lactose tolerance test. The individuals with higher H2 expired and/or lactose intolerance symptoms were selected as the subjects. ⋯ The results showed that exogenous lactase can significantly decrease the incidence of lactose malabsorption (the abnormal expiration of H2 decreased from 100% to 48.9%) and milk intolerance symptoms(from 51.1% to 13.3%). The results from this study demonstrate that lactose malabsorption and intolerance symptoms are resulted from the reduced enzyme activities of individuals, and the exogenous lactase can improve lactose absorption and intolerance symptoms. Lactose supplementation may be an available way to increase the dairy consumption and promote health of people.

After the traveller train carriage is closed, the air pollution would be serious in the carriage. In order to control the air pollution, the air cleaning technology must be studied and the air cleaner for the carriage must be designed. The authors discussed. 1. ⋯ Texting the function and performance of the air cleaner. 3. Investigating the effectiveness of the cleaner in same train sections. Thereby it will be confirmed that the air cleaner can improve the air environment in the carriage, and give convincingly security to the health of attendants and travellers.
