Comparative Study
Percutaneous nephrolithotomy versus flexible ureteroscopy in terms of cost-effectiveness in patients with 10-30 mm renal stones.
Kidney stones are one of the most common urological problems. When deciding on the method of treatment for this common disease, the cost of the procedure should also be taken into consideration. ⋯ Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a lower-cost and successful method in the surgical treatment of 1-3 cm stones, but the serious complications involved in this operation should be kept in mind.

To investigate the frequency of different etiologies of acute scrotal pain in males presenting to the emergency department at American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut, Lebanon. ⋯ Varicocele is the most common cause of acute scrotal pain in patients presenting to American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut. This should direct varicocele to the top of our differential when a patient with acute scrotum presents to the emergency department. Nevertheless, ruling out torsion remains the first step in the workup.

Penile fracture is one of the urological emergencies caused by direct trauma to an erect penis during sexual intercourse, which results in a tear in the tunica albuginea within the corpus cavernosum. Serious complications such as penile curvature and erectile dysfunction may develop due to inappropriate and/or late surgical repair. This study aims to evaluate patients with penile fracture and to describe their demographics, surgical repairs, and long-term outcomes. ⋯ Early surgical repair could be an effective method of achieving post-operative erection success in patients with penile fracture due to direct trauma during intercourse.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Perioperative inadvertent hypothermia among urology patients who underwent transurethral resection with either TURis or transurethral resection of the prostate method.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the incidence of perioperative hypothermia in urology patients undergoing transurethral resection with either TURis or transurethral resection of the prostate method and to recognize the risk factors that were responsible for the occurrence of hypothermia intraoperatively in these patients. ⋯ Perioperative inadvertent hypothermia among urology patients who underwent transurethral resection with both TURis and transurethral resection of the prostate method is of high incidence. We recommend monitoring of the temperature of core body of all these patients, especially those with advanced age and lower body mass index.

Onabotulinumtoxin-A has been approved for wet overactive bladder refractory to anticholinergics in randomised controlled trials; however, data from real-life practice are scarce. This study was designed to assess the efficacy of intravesical onabotulinumtoxin-A injections, focusing on health status, urinary symptoms and subjective satisfaction. ⋯ Intradetrusor injections of onabotulinumtoxin-A in patients with overactive bladder-refractory to anticholinergics significantly improved health status and urinary symptoms, with high subjective satisfaction.
