Risk factors of overactive bladder syndrome and its relation to sexual function in menopausal women.
Overactive bladder syndrome is a common and annoying complication worldwide that could negatively affect the quality of life of afflicted individuals. We aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of overactive bladder syndrome and its relation to sexual function in healthy menopausal women. ⋯ The prevalence of overactive bladder was quite high in this study. Since sexual dysfunction is not an easy topic to talk about and can affect women's quality of life, physicians should consider talking about these issues besides urinary issues to all middle-aged women.

Retrospective, non-randomised, single-centre study. ⋯ AMS 800 and ZSI 375 urodynamic tests are similar. Pressure of the pelvis and difference of altitude between the AMS balloon and the cuff can lead to high MUP.

Sepsis represents a clinical syndrome following an infection and it is characterized by classical signs of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS): fever or ipothermia, tachycardia, tachipnea, leucocytosis or leucopenia. There may also be symptoms related to a specific infection such as a cough in pneumonia or burning with urination in a kidney infection, and abdominal pain in an intraabdominal sepsis. Common locations for the primary infection include lungs, brain, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and mainly abdominal organs. ⋯ Severe sepsis is sepsis causing poor organ function or insufficient blood flow; septic shock is the situation with ipotension and/or need for high dosage of inotropes or vasopressors and multiple organ failure syndrome is when multiple organ dysfunction or failure is present. Outcomes depend on the severity of disease with the risk of death from sepsis being as high as 30%, severe sepsis as high as 50%, and septic shock as high as 80%. Prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, both medical (antibiotics) and surgical (source control), together with the prompt intensive care and organ support are crucial to increase survival rate.

The cancelling of elective surgical operations causes emotional trauma and a lack of confidence: study from a urological department.
Cancellation of elective surgical procedures is inconvenient and stressful on patients, causing loss of working days and disruption of daily life. Furthermore, it causes significant emotional trauma to the patients and their families. The purpose of this study was to analyze the number of elective surgery cancellations, as well as to identify and compare potential emotional trauma and satisfaction between older (≥ 65 years) and younger (<65 years) patients. ⋯ The study goal was to point out the importance of satisfying patients' expectations to offer a better assistance, in order to ensure a comforting and friendly experience, especially when the patients are weak and not young anymore.
