[The relationship between 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy and the histopathology of livers of chronic viral hepatitis patients].
To investigate the correlations between 31P-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) findings and histopathological grading and staging of the livers of chronic viral hepatitis patients. ⋯ PME/PDE is a sensitive marker for diagnosing the severity of chronic viral hepatitis. A rise of PME/PDE in hepatitis patients represents an increase of synthesis and a decrease in the breakdown of hepatocytes.

[Expression of interferon alpha family gene of Chinese marmot in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells].
To investigate the function of interferon alpha (IFNalpha) in a Chinese marmot model of hepatitis B, we expressed the Chinese marmot (Marmota himalayana) IFNalpha family gene (IFNA) in eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells. ⋯ The IFNalpha family gene of the Chinese marmot can be expressed in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, and the expression products show antiviral activity in a protection assay. This study provides, for the first time, evidence that IFNalpha from the Chinese marmot has an antiviral function in vitro and can be used to improve the efficacy of current therapies for HBV infection in our Chinese marmot model.

[Interferon-alpha and ribavirin combination therapy for co-infection of hepatitis C virus and human immunodeficiency virus].
To evaluate the clinical effect and side-effect of interferon-alpha (IFN-a) and ribavirin (RBV) combination therapy for Chinese patients with co-infection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and to compare them with only HIV infection patients. ⋯ IFNalpha-2b and RBV combination therapy showed similar anti-HCV effects during the 24 week treatment for HCV-HIV and HCV infected patients, and some anti-HIV effect was also observed. No obvious different biochemical responses and side-effects were found between the above two groups.

Comparative Study[A comparative study of MRI manifestations and pathological changes in hepatocellular carcinoma treated by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization with lipiodol].
To analyze the MRI manifestations and pathological changes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) with lipiodol. ⋯ (1) Different pathological changes in HCCs after TACE are represented by various signal intensities on SE sequence images. The only area of hypo-intensity on T2WI has a specificity in representing coagulation necrosis. (2) FMPSPGR sequence dynamic MRI is superior to SE sequence in demonstrating and determining the necrosis and residual viable tumor. Enhanced areas within the lesions on the early-phase dynamic-contrast images represent residual viable tumors and the enhancement of capsule on early-phase dynamic-contrast images also represent subcapsular residual viable tumors. (3) MRI can demonstrate accurately the areas of necrosis and residual viable HCC tissues after TACE and evaluate the effect of TACE.
