Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Cost-effectiveness of exercise therapy after corticosteroid injection for moderate to severe shoulder pain due to subacromial impingement syndrome: a trial-based analysis.
To perform a cost-effectiveness analysis of subacromial corticosteroid injection combined with exercise compared with exercise alone in patients with moderate to severe shoulder pain from subacromial impingement syndrome. ⋯ Injection plus exercise delivered by therapists may be a cost-effective use of resources compared with exercise alone and lead to lower health care costs and less time off work.

A multicentre, randomized, placebo- and active-controlled trial comparing the efficacy and safety of topical ketoprofen in Transfersome gel (IDEA-033) with ketoprofen-free vehicle (TDT 064) and oral celecoxib for knee pain associated with osteoarthritis.
To assess the efficacy and safety of 12-week treatment with ketoprofen in ultradeformable phospholipid vesicles in patients with OA knee pain and to compare the efficacy with that of ketoprofen-free vehicle and celecoxib. METHODS; A multicentre, double-blind controlled study in which patients with knee OA and moderate pain were randomized to one of the six arms: topical ketoprofen 50 or 100 mg in ultradeformable vesicles (IDEA-033), 2.2 or 4.4 g ketoprofen-free vehicle (TDT 064), oral celecoxib 100 mg or matching oral placebo, all bd. The primary outcome was change from baseline in the WOMAC pain subscale at week 12. ⋯ IDEA-033 was not superior to ketoprofen-free vehicle, but both formulations were superior to oral placebo and non-inferior to celecoxib in reducing OA knee pain.

Rilonacept for gout flare prevention during initiation of uric acid-lowering therapy: results from the PRESURGE-2 international, phase 3, randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of IL-1 inhibitor rilonacept (IL-1 Trap) for gout flare (GF) prevention during initiation of uric acid-lowering therapy (ULT) with allopurinol in a multiregional phase 3 clinical trial. ⋯ Rilonacept significantly reduced the occurrence of GFs associated with initiation of ULT, with >70% of patients having no flares, and demonstrated an acceptable safety and tolerability profile.

To explore the relationship between IL-6 levels and echocardiographic abnormalities, and N-terminal probrain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels in SSc patients and to correlate tested parameters with European Scleroderma Activity (EUSTAR) score. ⋯ IL-6 level is increased in patients with SSc and significantly correlates with LV diastolic dysfunction, NT-proBNP and EUSTAR score. These results support the role of IL-6 in the development of cardiac disease in SSc patients.

To characterize patient-level clinically meaningful improvements in pain and limitation of key activities of daily living (ADLs) after primary or revision total hip arthroplasty (THA). ⋯ These comprehensive data for patient-level clinically meaningful improvements in pain and seven key ADLs can help patients set realistic goals for improvement after THA.
