To identify potential mutations in the tumour necrosis factor receptor superfamily 1A gene (TNFRSF1A) in a Japanese female patient with recurrent fever complicated by systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and in her family members. ⋯ This is the first report of a TRAPS patient associated with SLE with a novel TNFRSF1A mutation (T61I).

To examine the role and relative impact of illness perceptions, coping strategies and clinical disease indicators on adjustment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. ⋯ Illness perceptions have significant implications for adaptation to illness and they outweigh the impact of medical disease status on depression, physical function and pain. Health interventions based on understanding and modifying perceptions of illness may prove useful in facilitating patient well-being.

User perspectives of transitional care for adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
To gain insight into the transitional needs of adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and to examine how these needs may be addressed within a structured programme of transitional care. ⋯ These results provide a useful guide to transitional care and suggest an approach that is adolescent-focused and evidence-based.
