To identify potential mutations in the tumour necrosis factor receptor superfamily 1A gene (TNFRSF1A) in a Japanese female patient with recurrent fever complicated by systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and in her family members. ⋯ This is the first report of a TRAPS patient associated with SLE with a novel TNFRSF1A mutation (T61I).

To examine the role and relative impact of illness perceptions, coping strategies and clinical disease indicators on adjustment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. ⋯ Illness perceptions have significant implications for adaptation to illness and they outweigh the impact of medical disease status on depression, physical function and pain. Health interventions based on understanding and modifying perceptions of illness may prove useful in facilitating patient well-being.

To determine the perceived education and training needs of health professionals involved in transitional care for adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). ⋯ Unmet education and training needs of health care professionals exist in key areas of transitional care and provide useful directions for the development of future training programmes.
