Effects of Open and Closed Tracheal Suctioning on Pain in Mechanically Ventilated Patients.
Painful care procedures are the most common cause of stress in patients admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Tracheal suctioning is the most painful experience for ICU patients. The present study was conducted to compare open and closed endotracheal suctioning in terms of their effect in pain in mechanically ventilated patients. ⋯ The present findings suggested a lower pain in the patients with closed suctioning compared to those with open suctioning.

Overcrowding Management and Patient Safety: An Application of the Stabilization Model.
Emergency department is among the most crowded hospital units. The function of this department considerably affects the functions of other hospital units as well as patient satisfaction. The Stabilization Model is a strategy with potential effectiveness in managing overcrowding in emergency department. This study aimed to determine the effects of overcrowding management based on the stabilization model on patient safety in emergency department. ⋯ Overcrowding management based on the stabilization model can significantly enhance patients' perceived safety. Therefore, this strategy can be used to ease emergency department overcrowding and enhance patient safety and care quality.

Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue in Cardiovascular Nurses: A Cross-sectional Descriptive Study.
Cardiovascular nurses play a key role in improving the treatment outcomes in patients. Compassion satisfaction and fatigue influence the quality of nursing care. Thus, it is important to examine the levels of compassion satisfaction and fatigue in cardiovascular nurses. This study was performed to determine compassion satisfaction and fatigue in cardiovascular nurses. ⋯ The results showed that the score of compassion satisfaction was high and fatigue was moderate in the cardiovascular nurses. Further research seems necessary to enhance compassion satisfaction and reduce fatigue in nurses.

Psychometric Properties of the Iranian version of Champion's Revised Health Belief Model Scale for Breast Cancer screening.
Women's beliefs regarding breast cancer and its screening approaches were considered antecedents of their behavioral changes. Understanding of these beliefs in women requires a valid and reliable instrument. The present study seeks to translate the English version of the Champion's Revised Health Belief Model Scale (CRHBMS) into the Persian language and assess its psychometric properties. ⋯ The study suggests that the Persian version of CRHBMS is a feasible scale for evaluating women's health beliefs regarding breast cancer and its screening behaviors.

Comparing the Effect of Foot and Hand Reflexology on Pain Severity after Appendectomy: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Appendicitis is one of the main causes of acute pain. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of foot and hand reflexology on pain severity following appendectomy. ⋯ The results of this study showed that foot reflexology was more effective than hand reflexology in pain alleviation.
