Efficacy and safety of finerenone in patients with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes by GLP-1RA treatment: A subgroup analysis from the FIDELIO-DKD trial.
Finerenone significantly reduced the risk of kidney and cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in patients with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes in the FIDELIO-DKD trial (NCT02540993). This exploratory subgroup analysis investigates the effect of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) use on the treatment effect of finerenone. ⋯ This exploratory subgroup analysis suggests that finerenone reduces UACR in patients with or without GLP-1RA use at baseline, and the effects on kidney and CV outcomes are consistent irrespective of GLP-1RA use.

Development of application to automatically calculate mean amplitude of glycaemic excursions using intermittently scanned continuous glucose monitoring data.
We aimed to develop an application to calculate mean amplitude of glycaemic excursions (MAGE) automatically and to evaluate its accuracy. ⋯ KAMOGAWA can help diabetologists use MAGE in clinical practice, which could contribute to improving glycaemic control in patients who use isCGM.

The burden of poor glycaemic control in people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes in Sweden: A health economic modelling analysis based on nationwide data.
To evaluate the economic and clinical burden associated with poor glycaemic control in Sweden, in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) initiating first-line glucose-lowering therapy. ⋯ Even in people with T2D initiating first-line glucose-lowering therapy, the economic burden of poor glycaemic control in Sweden is substantial, but could be reduced by early and effective treatment to achieve glycaemic targets.

Meta AnalysisSodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors and all-cause mortality: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The present meta-analysis is aimed at assessing the effects of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors on all-cause mortality and differences across different trials and molecules of the class. We included all randomized clinical trials with a duration of treatment longer than 52 weeks, enrolling at least 100 patients in each arm, and comparing an SGLT2 inhibitor with any comparator or placebo. Out of 139, 235 and 145 items identified, 21 trials were selected, enrolling 39 593 and 30 771 patients in SGLT2 inhibitor and comparator arms, respectively, with a median duration of 104 weeks, and reporting 2474 and 2298 deaths for SGLT2 inhibitors and comparators, respectively. ⋯ Treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors was associated with a significant reduction in all-cause mortality (MH-OR [95% CI] 0.86 [0.81, 0.91] P < .00001). Meta-regression analyses found a significant direct association of treatment effect only with the proportion of Asian subjects enrolled, and an inverse correlation with the proportion of Caucasian patients. In conclusion, SGLT2 inhibitors reduce all-cause mortality in randomized controlled trials.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of semaglutide 2.4 mg once weekly on energy intake, appetite, control of eating, and gastric emptying in adults with obesity.
To investigate the effects of once-weekly subcutaneous (s.c.) semaglutide 2.4 mg on gastric emptying, appetite, and energy intake in adults with obesity. ⋯ In adults with obesity, once-weekly s.c. semaglutide 2.4 mg suppressed appetite, improved control of eating, and reduced food cravings, ad libitum energy intake and body weight versus placebo. There was no evidence of delayed gastric emptying at week 20, assessed indirectly via paracetamol absorption.
