Multicenter Study Comparative StudyReduced antiplatelet therapy after drug-eluting stenting: multicenter Janus Flex carbostent implantation with short dual antiplatelet treatment for 2 or 6 months-MATRIX study.
The Multicentre registry with Antiplatelet TReatment two-sIX months (MATRIX) evaluated safety and efficacy at 12-month follow-up of Janus Flex stenting with 2- or 6-month dual antiplatelet therapy (DAT) period. ⋯ Janus Flex coronary stenting, followed by short DAT, is safe and feasible, without differences between 2- and 6-month DAT groups. A randomized trial confirming these encouraging data is needed.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyImpact of severity of renal dysfunction on determinants of in-hospital mortality among patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a known prognostic indicator of poor outcomes following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery disease. However, it is unclear whether other predictors of mortality differ among patients with varying degrees of renal impairment. Thus, we aimed to identify determinants of in-hospital mortality which are specific to patients with preserved renal function, moderate CKD, or end stage renal disease (ESRD) on dialysis, undergoing PCI. ⋯ Patients with moderate CKD or ESRD undergoing PCI have an approximately threefold increase in the risk of in-hospital mortality compared with patients with preserved renal function, with radically different mortality predictors existing for varying levels of renal function.

Chronic kidney disease and the risk of stent thrombosis after percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stents.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been demonstrated to be associated with adverse clinical outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, data on relation of CKD and stent thrombosis (ST) after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation are limited. ⋯ CKD is significantly associated with increased incidence of 1-year definite or probable ST in patients undergoing PCI with DES.

Case ReportsStroke due to late device thrombosis following successful percutaneous patent foramen ovale closure.
We report a case of stroke due to device thrombosis occurring three years following percutaneous patent foramen ovale (patent foramen ovale) closure with an Amplatzer atrial septal occluder device. We discuss risk factors that may have contributed to device thrombosis and raise concerns regarding the lack of a dedicated PFO closure device for clinical use in the United States.
