Carotid artery dissection: endovascular treatment. Report of 12 patients.
The purpose of this article is to report our experience with endovascular treatment of internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection with the use of stents. ⋯ Our results showed an excellent clinical outcome of the treated patients. This suggests promising results with the use of endovascular treatment in selected patients.

Comparative StudyLong-term clinical outcomes after sirolimus-eluting stent implantation for treatment of restenosis within bare-metal versus drug-eluting stents.
Sirolimus-eluting stents have been increasingly used for treatment of restenosis after implantation of bare metal stents (BMSs) or drug-eluting stents (DESs), but little is known regarding their long-term outcomes. ⋯ Sirolimus-eluting stents were effective for treatment of in-stent restenosis, but post-DES restenosis was associated with poorer outcomes than post-BMS restenosis.

Comparative StudyPrimary percutaneous balloon pericardiotomy for malignant pericardial effusion.
Pericardial effusion associated with malignancy is a life-threatening complication of late-stage disease. While simple drainage is effective in relieving the symptoms, reaccumulation of effusion may cause further symptomatic episodes, often during a period when overall patient management is focused on improving the quality of remaining life. Over a 16-year period, we have adopted a strategy of managing such patients with balloon pericardiotomy as the initial preferred treatment. The results are described and compared to alternative management strategies. ⋯ Balloon pericardiotomy, as initial management of symptomatic malignant pericardial effusions, allows a definitive procedure to be performed at presentation. This can be achieved with low complication rates, similar to treatment by simple drainage.

Patent foramen ovale closure with the Intrasept occluder: Complete 6-56 months follow-up of 247 patients after presumed paradoxical embolism.
We report our experience of transcatheter patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure with the new Intrasept occluder. ⋯ PFO closure with the Intrasept occluder is safe and efficient. Rates of residual shunt and recurrent TE compare favorably with other contemporary devices.
