The Importance of Determining Trainee Perspectives on Procedural Competencies During Spine Surgery Clinical Fellowship.
Longitudinal survey. ⋯ Understanding trainee goals for clinical fellowship remains important. Identification of areas of low procedural confidence and high importance to training experience will better guide fellowship programs and supervisors in the strategic delivery of the educational experience.

Does Posterior Cervical Decompression Conducted by Junior Surgeons Affect Clinical Outcomes in the Treatment of Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy? Results From a Multicenter Study.
Retrospective multicenter study. ⋯ Surgical outcomes such as functional recovery, complication rates, and cervical dynamics were comparable between the BCS and NBCS groups. Thus, posterior cervical decompression for CSM is safe and effective when performed by junior surgeons who have been trained and supervised by experienced spine surgeons.

ReviewPostoperative Complications Associated With Spine Surgery in Patients Older Than 90 Years: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.
A review of a prospective database. ⋯ Timing of surgery before paralysis progression and reduced surgical invasiveness are important considerations in treatment of the very elderly. Improved outcomes can be obtained with better management of spine surgery for patients aged 90 years or older.

Risk Factors for Perioperative Complications in Morbidly Obese Patients Undergoing Elective Posterior Lumbar Fusion.
Retrospective cohort study. ⋯ Morbidly obese patients are at higher risk of perioperative complications following elective PLF. Modifiable risk factors for the most common complications are obesity and preoperative steroid use.

Treatment of the Fractional Curve of Adult Scoliosis With Circumferential Minimally Invasive Surgery Versus Traditional, Open Surgery: An Analysis of Surgical Outcomes.
Retrospective, multicenter review of adult scoliosis patients with minimum 2-year follow-up. ⋯ Patients' FCs treated with cMIS had comparable reduction of leg pain compared with those treated with open surgery, despite significantly fewer cMIS patients undergoing direct decompression.
