Comparison of spinal cord contusion and transection: functional and histological changes in the rat urinary bladder.
To compare the effect of complete transection (tSCI) and contusion spinal cord injury (cSCI) on bladder function and bladder wall structure in rats. ⋯ Spinal cord transection and contusion produce different bladder phenotypes in rat models of SCI. Functional data suggest that the tSCI group has an obstructive high-pressure voiding pattern, while the cSCI group has more uninhibited detrusor contractions.

To study whether pre-biopsy 3-Tesla prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with targeted biopsy allows accurate anatomical and oncological characterization of the index prostate tumour, and whether this translates into improved positive surgical margin (PSM) rates after radical prostatectomy. ⋯ Pre-biopsy MRI can accurately identify the index prostate tumour, especially in those with higher PI-RADS grades and tumour diameter. Targeted biopsy of this focus retrieves significantly more cancerous tissue per core, and is more accurate regarding Gleason scores, but not primary Gleason grade. MRI underestimated the MTD, and PSMs were not significantly improved in the present study.

Patient-reported outcomes in the ProtecT randomized trial of clinically localized prostate cancer treatments: study design, and baseline urinary, bowel and sexual function and quality of life.
To present the baseline patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in the Prostate Testing for Cancer and Treatment (ProtecT) randomized trial comparing active monitoring, radical prostatectomy and external-beam conformal radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer and to compare results with other populations. ⋯ The ProtecT trial baseline PROMs response rates were high. Symptom frequencies and generic quality of life were similar to those observed in populations screened for prostate cancer and control subjects without cancer.

Early localisation of disease recurrence after definitive treatment of prostate cancer is vital to determine suitability for salvage treatment. Our aim was to further investigate the relationship between prostate specific antigen (PSA) level and detection of suspected cancer recurrence using 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT in patients with biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy (RP) or radiotherapy, particularly at low PSA levels. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is largest cohort study of detection rates of 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT in patients with biochemical recurrence after definitive treatment of prostate cancer, including patients with PSA <0.5 and in a post radiotherapy cohort. Detection of suspected recurrent disease outside the pelvis at low PSA levels will influence the decision for salvage treatment options.

To explore the efficacy and safety of pazopanib in a 'real-world' setting in unselected patients, as data regarding unselected patients with metastatic clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) treated with first-line pazopanib are limited. ⋯ In this retrospective study, first-line pazopanib confirmed its efficacy in metastatic ccRCC. Trends for longer PFS and OS were seen with VEGFR-TKI compared with mTORi after first-line pazopanib.
