[A further role on the structuro-functional organization of the vegetatovisceral manifestations of epilepsy (diencephalic epilepsy?)].
The authors present the results of examining 138 patients whose disease could be classed with the so-called "diencephalic epilepsy" proceeding from the structure of the paroxysmal vegetovisceral manifestations, the degree of the neuroendocrinal syndromes, the complicate scope of the organic and functional anomalies, and hydrocephalus of the IIId ventricle. Stereoelectroencephalographic examinations made in the course of spontaneous vegetovisceral and polymorph seizures have shown that the aura correlates with the reaction of desynchronization in the deep and cortical structures of the brain; the specific manifestations of the seizures are combined with epileptic discharges in the limbic and neocortical structures and absence of the discharges in the thalamus and hypothalamus. ⋯ It is supposed that the hypothalamus plays a non-specific role in the realization of the vegetovisceral paroxysms. On the basis of recognizing the system organization of epileptic process the authors cast doubt on the term "diencephalic epilepsy".

Comparative Study[Experience with using atropine in comatose and non-comatose doses in psychiatric clinical practice].
Treatment with atropine in comatose doses was given to 11 patients suffering from schizophrenia with obsessive disturbances. A favourable effect was noted when there were no hypochondriacal symptoms in the disease clinical picture. ⋯ Positive results were noted in patients with obsessions in the disease clinical picture, as well as in patients with reactive depressions. In patients with hypochondriacal disturbances, this form of the therapy appeared to be of no effect.

[Psychopathology of poetry writing of schizophrenic patients while ill].
On the basis of a psychopathological analysis of over 300 poems written by 29 schizophrenics in the state of the defect some characteristic features associated with the disturbances in the sphere of thought were revealed. The verses written by the patients showed a strange interpretation of the events being described, an unnecessary accentuation of minor details, a striving for formal novelty, peculiar plays on words, various abbreviations underlinings, as well as an amorphous character, absence of key points, inconsistency of the plot. ⋯ Characteristic of the verses written by the schizophrenics was emotional inadequacy. In the author's opinion, verses of schizophrenic patients in the state of the defect can serve as a differential diagnostic criterion of the defective states.
