[Survey of physicians on dealing with the topic "Tobacco consumption in patients with lung cancer"].
About 40 % of the patients are active smokers when diagnosed lung cancer. Half of these patients is the nicotine consumption continues despite the existence of cancer. The overall mortality in these patients is a factor of 3 higher. In addition, the quality of life increases and symptoms such as cough and dyspnoea are reduced. ⋯ The doctors were quite convinced of the benefit of a smoking stop in the treatment of the lung carcinoma. Lung cancer patients would benefit if smoking cessation would be even more integrated into the overall therapy. For that one could rely on already established cessation programs and concepts for clinics.

Review[Peripheral neuropathy as a side effect of chemotherapy and targeted therapy].
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a severe and common side effect induced by a variety of anticancer drugs. CIPN presents as a sensory, motor, and sometimes autonomic dysfunction with a large variability, from a mild tingling sensation and hyperesthesia, to severe neuropathic pain. Up to 40 % of patients will develop CIPN which may lead to dose-reduction or discontinuation of their current treatment and largely affects their quality of life (QoL). This review presents specific clinical features and pathomechanisms and discusses current preventive strategies and therapeutic options.

Multicenter Study[Medication Plans at Hospital Admission - a Multicentre Analysis Using Statutory Health Insurance Data].
Changes in drug therapy at intersectoral interfaces can lead to clinically relevant drug-related problems. This study aimed, therefore, at comparing the drug prescription continuity of patients with and without a medication plan at hospital admission. ⋯ Even before implementation of the national medication plan, nearly two third of the patients had a medication plan at hospital admission. However, in many cases it had been prepared by the patients themselves. The existence of a medication plan can have an impact on the continuity of the drug prescription during hospitalisation but not after discharge.

[Fluid Resuscitation and Management in Patients with Sepsis and Septic Shock].
Sepsis and septic shock are common diseases with high mortality rates. Although volume therapy has been a central component of sepsis therapy for decades, the choice of optimal fluid and fluid intake is unclear. This paper summarizes findings on pathophysiology, clinical trial results, and current recommendations for optimal volume and fluid management in sepsis.
