[Quality of Blood Pressure Control in General Practice Using Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring - a Retrospective Monocentric Cross-Sectional Study].
The diagnosis and therapy of arterial hypertension is a continuous challenge in general practice. The aim of this study is to analyze the nature and effectiveness of blood pressure control in patients with known arterial hypertension in a primary care practice using office- (OBPM) and ambulatory (ABPM) blood pressure measurement. ⋯ In the family practice examined, the treatment control of patients with arterial hypertension was mostly guideline-based and better than described in the literature. The parallel and consistent implementation of ABPM in addition to OBPM as well as the high prescription rate of RAS blockers and recommended combination therapies might be the key for this result.

Case Reports[The use of Idarucizumab in intracerebral bleeding - a case report].
82-year old male patient suspected of having cerebral hemorrhage under anticoagulation therapy with Dabigatran due to atrial fibrillation. ⋯ Neurosurgical hematoma evacuation and trepanation after preoperative use of Idarucizumab as an antidote for Dabigatran to stop anticoagulative effects and secure normal bleeding conditions, led to reduced midline shift. We started heparin-based anticoagulation first followed by Dabigatran again in clinical steady state and after rehabilitation with neurologically low-grade residuals.

["Critical discussion should be encouraged!" - a qualitative analysis of medical students' evaluation of a complementary medicine course].
In 2002, the new version of the German Medical Licensure Act integrated Naturopathy and Complementary Medicine into the cross-sectoral unit 12 "Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine and Naturopathy" (QB12) of the medical undergraduate course. At the University of Heidelberg, Complementary Medicine (CAM) is an obligatory clinical subject of the medical undergraduate curriculum and is delivered in the form of lectures and small group work. As a central educational objective, medical students should be able to explain the principles of classical Naturopathy and the most commonly used CAM procedures. The aim was to explore the attitudes, learning needs and interests of medical students with regard to Naturopathy and CAM, and thus establish the teaching requirements. ⋯ Our results show that evidence-based teaching, combined with practical experience, contributes positively to the critical appraisal of CAM amongst medical students. These findings can serve as the basis for planning, implementation and realization of CAM teaching within mainstream undergraduate medical education.

The incidence of Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) remains on a high level globally. In Germany, the burden of disease and especially the number of severe or even lethal cases continue to increase. The main risk factor for the development of CDI is the exposure to broad-spectrum antibiotics, which disturb the intestinal microbiota and therefore enable the colonization with C. difficile. ⋯ Furthermore, recent clinical studies demonstrated that significantly fewer recurrences occurred in patients who additionally received the monoclonal antibody bezlotoxumab. Novel toxoid vaccines are expected to become an efficacious tool in the prevention of CDI. However, pivotal clinical trials have so far not been completed.
