Rupture of the cavernous bodies is a serious penile trauma which may result in severe long-term consequences. Standard suturing of the cavernous body is accompanied with posttraumatic complications: erectile dysfunction and distortion of the penis. ⋯ The technique of the cavernous body wound suturing was perfected. Long-term sequences of fracture of the penis in conservative policy and different methods of cavernous body wound suturing are compared.

The aim of this study was to evaluate impairment of acid-base balance (ABB) in acute obstructive uropathies. Evaluation of acid-base balance was performed by pH, partial carbon dioxide pressure, plasma bicarbonate concentration, buffer bases, basis excess, hydrogen ion concentration. ⋯ Acidotic shifts in acute obstruction of the upper urinary tracts and its inflammatory complications were assessed pathophysiologically. A comparative study of pathological acid-base disorders in acute supra- and infravesical obstructive uropathies was performed.

Wide clinical introduction of endoscopic methods in management of lower urinary tract (LUT) diseases is explained both by their high efficacy and relative safety. In spite of perfection of endourological tools, no large-scale clinical trials have been performed of late analyzing the rate of complications of endoscopic treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A total of 5401 transurethral endoscopic operations were made in BPH patients. ⋯ Rare complications comprised injury of the ureteral ostia (0.09%), rupture of the urinary bladder (0.02%). Thus, transurethral endoscopic surgery is characterized by high safety, a trend to lowering of the number of intraoperative complications in transurethral endoscopic operations. Adherence to specification and TUR techniques leads to minimization of serious complications number.

[Peritoneal dialysis in the treatment of chronic renal failure].
Fifty-four patients were treated with peritoneal dialysis for terminal chronic renal failure. Clinical-laboratory indices were assessed in patients on chronic peritoneal dialysis. ⋯ Complications of chronic peritoneal dialysis as a method and algorithms of their treatment are outlined. The role of peritoneal dialysis as a preparatory stage before transplantation of the kidney is assessed.

We assessed how bilateral microsurgical varicocelectomy alters semen quality in a large cohort of infertile men with bilateral varicocele. By means of bilateral testicular biopsy, we have investigated the spermatogenesis failure in several biological men groups and determined whether it can change the patient's candidacy for assisted reproductive technology procedures (ART). ⋯ Microscopic varicocelectomy has minimal morbidity and recurrence and may be beneficial for certain patients. Making simultaneous biopsy in patients with azoospermia and severe oligospermia makes it possible to distinctly define the extent of spermatogenesis disturbances and to elaborate adequate treatment policy. The drastic improvement of the sperm quality after varicocelectomy increases the ART chances for spontaneous pregnancy.
