Case ReportsNon-traumatic nasal septal abscess due to acute spheno-ethmoiditis.
Non-traumatic nasal septal abscesses (NSAs) are rare and those associated with acute sinusitis are even rarer. We report a case of a 12-year-old female child with NSA and complicating acute spheno-ethmoiditis that was diagnosed by physical examination and computed tomography (CT) scan. The NSA was treated by surgical incision and drainage of the abscess, endoscopic aspiration of pus from the spheno-ethmoidal recess, systemic antibiotic therapy, and nasal cleansing.

[Bronchoscopic findings in children with prolonged respiratory symptoms].
This retrospective study aims to establish an algorithm indicating a bronchoscopy, based on clinical and radiological criteria predictive of the presence of a foreign body (FB), in children with prolonged respiratory symptoms and no history of foreign body aspiration (FBA); to establish a study of these criteria and to compare the clinical, radiological and broncoscopic findings in such cases. ⋯ Bronchoscopy must be indicated in suspected cases of FBA to prevent delayed diagnosis and pulmonary sequelae. The clinical and radiological findings may help the clinician to indicate it.

The aim of the study is to analyze reliability and clinical validity of the Italian MDADI. ⋯ The Italian MDADI is reliable and clinically valid. The application of the MDADI is recommended in clinical practice as well as in descriptive, outcome and efficacy research.

[Clinical signs and correlation with radiological extent in a series of 117 retrosternal goitre].
To report, compare the clinical signs and the radiological signs of retrosternal goitre (cervico-thoracic goitre) and try to establish a correlation between clinical signs and radiological extent. ⋯ The cervico-thoracic CT-scan is the key examination of the assessment of a retrosternal goitre making it possible to appreciate its features, its anatomic relations and its tracheal involvement sometimes announced by respiratory disorders, the presence of a dysphagia should alert to the possibility of posterior extension which can not be felt during the cervical palpation.
