Forensic traces in forensic and veterinary opinions in case of suspicion of poaching with firearms.
The paper presents the principles which govern evaluation of poaching crimes with the use of firearms during preparation of court opinions based on secured forensic traces. In many cases, secured evidence does not allow for post-mortem examination; it becomes necessary to use other methods of assessing the evidence. ⋯ Such comprehensive analyses lead to precise determination of both the species of animals and the cause of their death and should be used in forensic and veterinary opinions.

Post-mortem computed tomography (PMCT) and PMCT-angiography after transvascular cardiac interventions.
During the last years, Post Mortem Computed Tomography (PMCT) has become an integral part of the autopsy. PMCT-angiography may augment PMCT. Both exams have proven their value in visualizing complications after heart surgery. Therefore, they should also show complications after transvascular interventions. This assumption initiated our project: to evaluate the possibilities of PMCT and PMCT-angiography after transvascular cardiac interventions. ⋯ After transvascular cardiac interventions, PMCT and PMCT-angiography show complications and causes of death. They prove a correct interventional approach and also guide autopsy. In isolated cases, they may even replace autopsy.

The study presents a case of a death of a driver death who was transporting flasks with liquid nitrogen that depressurized during an accident. The mechanism and cause of death were determined based on the result of the autopsy and histopathologic examination. The authors emphasize the relevance of accident scene inspection during establishing the cause of death in similar cases.

Most likely, opium was the first narcotic substance discovered at the dawn of humankind. The history of drug addiction is immensely rich and allows for tracing the long way humankind had to travel to reach the contemporary level of consciousness with respect to narcotic substances. A retrospective view of drug addiction that takes into consideration the historical context, while extending our knowledge, also allows for a better understanding of today's problems. The report presents elements of a retrospective view of problems associated with addiction to opium, morphine and heroin over the centuries, what is a subject of scientific interest in contemporary toxicology.
