[Analysis of Pulse Rate Variability and Its Application to Wearable Smart Devices].
In this paper, a reflection type photoelectric pulse wave sensor was designed for short-term pulse rate variability analysis. Photoplethysmography (PPG) signals and ECG signals (obtained with the Dimetek MicroECG recorder Dicare-m1CP) were recorded synchronously from 20 healthy subjects. ⋯ Besides, there are no significant differences (P > 0.05) between the HRV measured by ECG and the PRV quantified by the PPG whether in time domain, frequency domain, or the Poincaré plot parameters. The experimental results suggest that the PPG-based short-term PRV analysis can be consistent with the ECG-based HRV measurement in wearable smart devices.

[Study on Tracheal Intubation's Circular Arc Radius Measuring Method Based on Machine Vision].
It is difficult to measure the circular arc radius for central angle less than 30 degrees. The existing measuring methods are of low efficiency and big error. Through designing the machine vision system and studying the image detecting method for measurement, It is obtained good results by using the new measurement for tracheal intubation's circular arc radius, Realized a rapid and accurate measurement of the circular arc radius, and expanded the application in the field of machine vision.

[Primary study of respiratory monitoring based on breath sounds].
It is nonlinear relationship between breath sounds and respiratory flow rate, thus breath sounds might be a new solution for respiratory monitoring. The envelope of the breath sounds was created firstly. ⋯ Finally, using these parameters estimated respiratory flow rate was achieved by the logarithm of envelope with 14.9% error. Therefore, respiratory flow rate estimation and respiration monitoring based on breath sounds are feasible.

[Clinical data mining by exploring public MIMIC-II intensive care database].
This paper introduces a free and publicly open ICU database: multi-parameter intelligent monitoring in intensive care II: MIMIC-II, which has been built up and maintained by the laboratory of computational physiology at the Massachusetts Institute Technology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Philips Healthcare over the past decade. This paper briefly introduces its infrastructure, implementation and applications in clinical studies. ⋯ In this study, it was found there was significant difference in circadian variation in both heart rate and blood pressure between survival and non-survival groups in septic patients. This study tackled several important techniques necessary for the investigation of the circadian rhythm.

[Development of cardiac output monitoring system based on thermodilution method].
Cardiac output (CO) monitoring is a crucial part of the hemodynamic status monitoring. So far, thermodilution method, which is clinically recognized as the gold standard method to monitor cardiac output, still has irreplaceable advantages. ⋯ A large amount of test data of this system has been got by CO simulator testing in the laboratory and preliminary clinical tests in the hospital. The testing result showed that using the proposed system can achieve good accuracy and repeatability.
