[An intelligent photoelectric oxygen-inhalation calculagraph].
This paper introduces a self-made intelligent oxygen-inhalation accumulative calculagraph. A photoelectric probe is fixed on the buoy of the oxygen flowmeter under non-ventilation conditions. ⋯ When oxygen inhalation pauses, the buoy goes down and the timing stops. When oxygen inhalation starts again, the timing continues and accumulates.

[Better medical devices regulations for better health care: enlightenment for medical devices regulatory reform in China, from experiences of the E.U. and the U.S.A].
The expansion of applications of medical devices has attracted the increased attention of government regulatory bodies around the world to the safety and effectiveness of these products. Most developed countries, such as the United States and European Union, have developed well-established regulatory systems for medical devices, which have also consistently been amended to accommodate the changing requirements of safety and the trend of globalization. The current "Regulations for the Supervision and Administration of Medical Device (China)", established in 2000, has brought about great improvements for the safety and effectiveness of products, safeguarding public health. ⋯ It is suggested that when developing a new scheme of medical devices regulatory reform in China, two prominent aspects have to be considered by policy makers and regulators. Firstly, the global trend of medical devices regulations has to be taken into account. Secondly, the experiences learned from the EU and US systems should be applied to the Chinese regulatory reform in combination with the concrete practice of China.

This article elaborates the working principle, composition and main functions of an intelligent oxygen inhalation device based on AT 89S51, which can not only detect and control oxygen flow in real time, but also control the output power of the humidifier and monitor the respiration state of the patient.

[A monitoring technique in detecting the depth of anesthesia by bispectral index].
At the present time, a kind of monitoring technology assuring highly effectual anesthesia is urgently required in the clinical practice. Electroencephalogram (EEG) assumes a dominant position in the current research of the depth detection of anesthesia. ⋯ The bispectral index is a compound parameter which is composed of time domain, frequency domain, and high order spectral subparameters of the electroencephalograph. This nonlinear compound calculation method is worth research and is of great significance to the development of a new monitor of closed-loop control of anesthesia.

[Research on metrological verification and the development of the verification equipment for digital electrocardiographs].
In order to guarantee that digital electrocardiographs with an adequate accuracy and reliabity are available for measurements in clinical practice, it is very important to determine the metrological characteristics, methods and to develop the equipments for verification. This paper elaborates the basic functions, specification, schematic drawing and key techniques of calibration equipments as well as test items for digital electrocardiographs.
