Aretaeus of Cappadocia composed a vivid description of diphtheria, noting the symptoms, complications, as well as the remedies to cure it. He was the medical author who used the terms "eschara" and "diphtheres" which are still in use by modern physicians, and the first who recognized the croup. His alum remedy has stood the test of time and is nowadays still under study.

Review Case Reports
Streptococcus anginosus group disseminated infection: case report and review of literature.
Streptococcus anginosus group is widely known for its ability to cause invasive pyogenic infections. There are very few reports of disseminated infections sustained by members of this streptococcal group. We report a case of a highly disseminated infection and analyse previous literature reports. ⋯ Ninety-one percent (91%) of patients were treated with β-lactams, and surgical procedures were performed in 67% of patients. Infections caused by S. anginosus group members are satisfactorily treated with penicillin G and cephalosporins. It is very important to associate surgery to antimicrobial chemotherapy in order to achieve a full or nearly full clinical recovery.

Case Reports
[Leprosy-like cutaneous presentation of Histoplasma capsulatum infection in an African HIV+ patient].
Histoplasma capsulatum is an opportunistic dimorphic fungus responsible for most often self-limiting or flu-like infections but potentially lethal in immunocompromised hosts. Histoplasmosis is rare in Europe. We reported a case of disseminated histoplasmosis in an African HIV patient with a leprosy-like primary cutaneous presentation and involvement of lungs, brain, limphnodes and eye. The therapy with liposomial B amphotericin and itraconazole led to a prompt resolution of the symptoms.

A cross sectional study was carried out (impetigo cases n=265, relative prevalence 5.3%, among 50,237 outpatients). Males predominated in childhood, adulthood and overall (OR 2.0) and exhibited a more protracted susceptibility. Impetigo was more prevalent in summer months. Lesions were located on the head and neck (65.4%), followed by 19.6% on an upper extremity and by 7.5% each on the trunk and a lower extremity.

Case Reports
Successful management of pulmonary mucormycosis with liposomal amphotericin B and surgery treatment: a case report.
Mucormycosis is an increasingly recognized invasive fungal infection (IFI) in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and after allogeneic (allo) stem cell transplantation (HSCT); it is mainly due to the severe and prolonged neutropenia related to high-dose chemotherapy. In such patients, the lung is the most frequently involved site in mucormycosis. ⋯ Secondary prophylaxis with LamB, applied during both consolidation therapy and myeloablative sibling allogeneic HSCT, was effective to prevent IFI recurrence despite the development of grade I acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and limited chronic GVHD requiring immunosuppressive treatment. Our case report further provide evidence that the combined surgical and LAmB therapy is an effective and safe choice for the management of pulmonary mucormycosis in hematological immunocompromised patients.
